Free channels of the day

Free channels of the day

Starting today, I am running a series of daily articles about each of the free television channels on the Freeview, Freesat and fSfS (Freesat from Sky) platforms.
Share this page:
Improvements to aerial position information and mixed-polarity transmitters Improvements to aerial position information and mixed-polarity transmitters

You can now see more information about Full Freeview and public service transmitters, including the transmission height and polarity, and transmitters that provide both horizontal and vertical signals are now shown in full.
Changes to switchover frequencies in Meridian, London and Northern Ireland Changes to switchover frequencies in Meridian, London and Northern Ireland

Ofcom have, as part of the changes required to create the 4G mobile broadband service, changed switchover channel allocations on transmitters in parts of the UK
Site colour code improvements Site colour code improvements

I have been making improvements to UK Free TV to increase the speed that pages load, and also to help with navigation.
Telling lies? Freeview HD needs no new aerial, nor does play/record/pause Telling lies? Freeview HD needs no new aerial, nor does play/record/pause

I just spotted this Press Release claiming that "anyone interested in the new Freeview+ HD service that they may require an aerial upgrade to reap all of the benefits of this new system, as some of the older aerials do not have full signal support for all Freeview HD Digital channels and the Plus record, pause and rewind capabilities"
get_iplayer to return get_iplayer to return

I was about to write an article about get_iplayer when the developer withdrew from the project. However, it is due to return!
Post switchover signal strength. Post switchover signal strength.

Stephen Phillips asked about the relative strength of the analogue and digital signals.
Updates from quot;licences version 7quot;, mixed polarity transmitters, corrections etc Updates from "licences version 7", mixed polarity transmitters, corrections etc

Today, I have made some extensive improvements to the information carried in the UK Free TV databases, which will result in better information being displayed in the future.

Freeview retune - poor public service transmitters deal Freeview retune - poor public service transmitters deal

5.1 million people are about to feel they are not getting a choice from Freeview. Two time-shifts and four HD simulcasts and just one news provider when you have limited channels is a poor deal.
