The mux channels shown above (from 7th April onwards) are: 48, 52, 54, 55, 56, 58, 59, 61

I asked Digital UK for the same information and they said that the mux channels (from 7th April onwards) will be: 54, 56, 58, 59, 61, 62

So only 6 mux channels instead of 8 (and channel 62 doesn't even appear in the list on this page)

MENDIP TRANSMITTER HAS HAD PROBLEMS ALL WEEK.

SKY NEWS is virtually unwatachable as recurrent signal dropout has been constant ALL WEEK.

At first I thought it was related to imminent switover and might last a few hours, before that a bit a of transient serious impulse interference but the recurrence ruled that out. Now that the problem has persisted for a week or more then engineering work also has to be ruled out.

Haven't checked other channels on the same mux.

It just means I have to leave News24 on more than I would normally.

Digital is useless, 64QAM worse still.

I have used TWO different aerials to check it.

Hi Bob,
Same here in BA2, I have only been receiving MUX A,B,D for over a week now, thought that the high pressure was the problem but not likely over the last seven days, ABD is giving a very good picture and sound as is radio but MUX1 still no go, no reported problems from Mendip.....? Who reports I wonder, to whom and where??
Changed my digi box for a test same results, Wenvoe is showing on the channel list but not reception on MUX1 or 801 plus channels.
Mendip analogue is better than usual so I have been using this and will continue until 24th I guess, perhaps it is the last flurry of analogue until the switch off as it never this good for my location normally???

Six Nations is viewable at least today, I hope the game is as good as the reception currently????

David: Yes, "Mendip COM multiplexes will temporarily operate on channels 62+ for SDN, 56+ for Arqiva A, and 59+ for Arqiva B (all at 10kW ERP) until Autumn 2011. Final DSO channels will then be adopted, though ERP levels will remain limited until early 2012." - From www.ofcom.org.uk link icon http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/ifi/tech/dsodetails/Westv3.0.pdf

Interesting to see the going's on with line fed relays... It would appear that Illchester Crecent will be completely line fed taking it off the rbl network and stand alone. Monksilver will be line fed D3&4 and the BBC will be thrown in over DSAT... Wonder are they going to separate out the regions?

Jordy
Wednesday 17 March 2010 3:22PM
peter - That's what i was trying to get my head round... Why the expense of line feeding a relay. The only conclusion i can draw is to divide the BBC/ITV regions. Countisbury was a candidate for line feeding, there's been rbl problems there for years due to tidal fading. It begs the question about Roadwater & Washford will they end up line fed as their rbl is now cut. Very expensive operation, could always pull a source from Stockland and switch parent. Kings Weston Hill is to be line fed as well...

I love these Digital UK installer updates...

It's 2010 and I can be reached in any populated area anywhere on the planet on my mobile phone, I can download a street map of where I am on to my mobile, I can go on Google and take a look at almost anyone's house and front garden yet the method to ensure your state of the art DTT receiver stores the correct channels in overlapping reception areas relies on the user yanking in and out the aerial lead at the right time... I would characterise this particular article as complete shit...

Jordy: Yes, it was a clear error not having a way for Freeview boxes to deal properly with digital regions with overlaps.
Briantist
Thursday 18 March 2010 7:30AM
Jordy: It would be more cost effective if the "relay" is already being fed by fibre for other services, such as 3G...

Ia anything happen to the transmit which is affecting the strength of the signal, for example at 9:15 this morning the signal strength drop from 37%, to 20% and we lost picture. This has been the case since before the week-end, the signal strength normally returns at some point during the evening.

Briantist - reference overlapping regions, Wenvoe and Mendip. My TV reset itself to BBC1 and 2 wales without any retuning 10 days ago. It now insists that Wales channels are my primary channels. I have a brand new Sony eco TV but there is no way to remove the main Wenvoe channels, only deleting all the individual programmes. Autotune without an aerial connected does not remove anything so all the rubbish stays there. The only way, after 7th April, will be to reset the whole TV removing all my preference settings and stored channels. Like Jordy I find this extremely frustrating.
peter
Thursday 18 March 2010 3:18PM
Briantist - even if fibre exists it probably won't affect the annual rental.

No line of sight to Mendip or Stockland Hill from Monksilver.

I am correct in assuming that Mux A will continue on UHF 62 until August 2011? I thought this was moving to a different frequency as since the Sept 09 retune UHF 62 is non existent in bad (and good) weather. I was hoping it would be going in April this year.

So basically I am stuck with a rubbish low power unobtainable signal for Mux A (SDN) until Autumn 2011 - meaning I will be without ITV3, Five USA, Fiver, Virgin 1 and Quest for two whole years! (Sept 09 - Autumn 11). I thought that the digital switchover was supposed to increase the signal power in April this year, not 2011.
Briantist
Wednesday 24 March 2010 10:51AM
gasman: Yes, but the commercial multiplex have to stay on lower power until neighbouring regions switch, otherwise you would disable analogue services for those people.

You should probably get a new aerial, you are well within the range to receive these signals at their current power level.
