I live near Arnold and point to this transmitter. Over recent weeks, the signal strength on all of the channels has dropped to the point of getting stuttering on the weaker channels (ITV etc). Am I the only one suffering this (and therefore it's likely to be my aerial)?
Gary

I got my answer. I had the aerial company back (very good, contact me if you want a recommendation) and it turned out that the problem was the signal strength. It was actually too high so the analogue signal was masking the digital signal. A couple of attenuators later and I now have a perfect picture again.

walter Lawson: The digital signals are at very low power levels and are more effected than the high power analogue ones. The digital signals will increase from 40 W to 400 W at switchover making them 10 times stronger.

Over the last few days, we have lost the signal on Mux B, channel 63, Nottingham transmitter. It's never been a problem before. Has anyone else had this?

We had a new digital aerial fitted several weeks ago, and both digital and analogue were great. On Friday, the picture on analogue has gone all grainy, and Sky Sport and others on Mux C have gone down to around 1%,i.e. unwatchable. Anybody else found this? We use Waltham and are in NG9

Karen G - Could you check the condition of your aerial, some of this recent poor weather may have caused damage to the aerial. Is it just Mux C that's affected...

Am I the only one who keeps loosing ITV channels, this loss only affects all ITV C4 but not BBC channels. Everything can be fine for a few days then they just cut of.
If anyone is experiencing the same problems or can suggest a solution please post a reply.
The Arial is the latest type and cost more than "freesat" which I am considering as a replacement for freeview.

I have been having a problem with ITV on the freeview box since Monday, was ok Monday night but now unwatchable. BBc channels are working fine and have been watching ITV through analogue but the signal isnt too great but at least it's watchable. This morning channel 4 isnt working aswell. Don't know a solution yet though.

If there are any problems with this Notts relay transmitter try changing your aerial to Waltham, You should get a much stronger signal anyway especially after switchover when the Sheffield relay switches to high power digital bacause like with annalogue co channel interferance on channels 21, 27, 24 & 31 it will cause all digital multiplexes to break up. The majority of aerials which point to this relay transmitter might as well point to Waltham as houses on the same streets point to Waltham.

I would just lilke to report I am having problems with ITV and C4 and also Five, that is muxes 2 and A
which are tuned to channels 67 and 53 respectively.
I have had this for a few months. This has happened before for a brief period in the summer but never this early in the year.
Why are these listed as on low power? I can only get a poor signal and I am only 4 mimles away, albeit a loft aerial. Turn them up a bit please!!
They do need turning up as I can get the other muxes fine. I uses the analogues as back up for ITV and C4 which are reasonable, and Five which is excellent, but obviously no E4 more 4 etc on analogue. Please turn it up I can't ee how it can effect *anyone*.

Had problems on and off for years with all ITV digitial channels on freeview except (ITV2+1) and C4 channels (excluding Film4 and E4+1). I have had 3 set top boxes and currently have a TV with inbuilt digitial receiver. Why is the transmission from ITV/C4 so poor?
Briantist
Tuesday 25 August 2009 1:54PM
Margaret: The channels are carried on different multiplexes.

ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, C4, More4, E4 and C4+1 are on Multiplex 2.

CITV is on Multiplex A.

ITV2+2, Film4 are on Multiplex D and E4+1 is on Multiplex C.

This means you are having problem with Multiplex 2, please see www.ukfree.tv link icon Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002

I assume that the Nottingham transmitter is a relay station and so after the retune I will lose ITV3 & ITV4. Does anyone know if this is correct ?
Briantist
Wednesday 30 September 2009 8:50AM
Peter: No, you are incorrect. It is only the switched-over relays that will not have ITV3 and ITV4. The Nottingham transmitter is a main Freeview transmitter. www.ukfree.tv link icon Freeview on Nottingham TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV + switchover advice, since 2002 for details.

Retuned my freeview box as infomed. Now I have no ITV1 or 2 but I do have Channel4 Five More4.
Strange as the missing channels appear, according to the list to be transmitted from the same Mux!?!
Information on aerials seems to be mixed. I have a digital wideband (with mast amplifier) placed horizontal as per advice from other websites including the freeview site.
This site mentions vertical but should it make that difference when the transmitter is only 6 miles away and can be seen from my house?

All other channels and signal strength are showing excellent.

another strange thing is that where ITV should be on my digital Sony TV the signal strength is reorded also as High. So why can't I get ITV?

Any ideas or is it just a case of those transmitter guys turning the wick up?

look forward to any comments that may help.

regards

Docsmith: It's not going to be your aerial, the problem is that you have not reset the box to factory settings before scanning. If you can't find the instructions to do it, you can use this instead - www.ukfree.tv link icon My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV + switchover advice, since 2002

Thanks Briantist for the quick reply.

I have tried your recommendation on the 3 tv's that have been affected but to no avail.

All tv's can not receive any of the channels being transmitted from MUX 2 Nottingham.

I've even disconnected all periphery equipment to find out if there is any interference fom them as suggested elsewhere.

This makes no difference either.

Because three tv's are affected leads me to believe in a common fault but what I do not know.

If it is MUX 2 (which is strange as I would think that there would be an outcry from all those people missing their regular dose of Coro') who do I contact to report my problem?

docsmith:if you wish to receive MUX2 from the Nottingham relay on ch67 your aerial needs to be mounted with the rods vertical.Reception from Waltham (ch23), Sutton Coldfield (ch44) or Belmont (ch48) require an aerial set for horizontal polarization. It is possible that you are receiving low level signals from one of these transmitters.Check for channels stored in the 800's for ITV-1.Try to store the multiplex manually if possible.

ITV, 4 and Five plus others keep disappearing from my channel list. Despite retune, they cannot be found now, even on manual tune. I reset my rf output channel before the recent change because of problems, but even adjusting this is fruitless now.
Its a built in freeview decoder and a full reset of the tv has not made a difference.

Can anyone answer this question please - I have a portable tv with a sagem STB in my bedroom plugged into a wall aeriel socket butthe portable tv keeps losing the analogue channels and then they just return, the main television in the lounge is virgin but the analogue is working fine. My freeview is completely ruined as i can only get about 7 channels that actually work. when the analogue comes on the better picture i get on freeview.
Does any of this make sense to anyone.
I have tried someone elses set top box and its just the same so its not the set top box and the aerial is about 3 years old.

I have tried everything that has been suggested on here and still nothing works.

There is a car park next to me that has some portacabins in them (delivered about 2 months ago as there is some works around here) and to be honest I thought that maybe that might be the problem but only myself is affected with this, have been and checked with the other 3 flats in the block but they are all ok and so i ruled that out.
