Nick Peel: Are you also missing channel 15(Film4) and channel 24(ITV4)? If so the problem is lack of MuxD due to interference or weak signal on C55. If it is only the "Yesterday" channel that is missing does it appear in the 800s? If it does it needs a factory reset to clear the channel list of old data before scanning for channels. If MuxD is missing what is your postcode? - so a check can be made of predicted reception at your location.

Ollie: There is a "preview" HD service transmitted from the Lichfield transmitter on C34. However, you may find the signal levels too low to use at your location.

@Briantist - Thanks for the reply. I was on my roof for 2 hours yesterday trying to find the Lichfield transmitter and had No Luck :( Guess i will have to wait until Sept. I have 90% signal 100% Quality using the SC transmitter. I used the postcode checker & it says HD was Available in my area. I go out & buy a HD freeview box & Aerial and was left guttered to find no HD.

I've lost all channels from Mux 2 & A in the last few days (Sutton Coldfield from LE8). Previously I could pick up all freeview channels, most of them with an excellent signal quality. I notice that the power level & rating listed on this site are stated as 'low'. Does anybody know if this has always been the case or have the levels dropped for some reason?

Recurring ITV4 Problems - We have suffered from poor reception regarding the digital transmission of the ITV4, via Freeview, 7-8pm on 3 consecutive evenings: Saturday, Sunday and tonight (16-18 July 2011)

Saturday night's programme was recorded and was virtually unwatchable due to frequent picture/digital break-up. The recorder was fully re-scanned for Sunday's recording, which appeared to bring some improvement, but the interuptions and picture break-up were still unacceptably intrusive.

Checking again around 7:25 pm on the TV (not the recorder) and the picture was hopeless (BBC1/ITV1 were fine). After rescanning all of the channels on the TV and ITV4 could not be found.

Briantist - many thanks.

Reception seems much better this evening - the TV has managed to rescan and locate ITV4, but there was still some occasional picture break-up when I checked at around 6:30 pm. The main channels are unaffected (i.e. OK), as before.

Dave - Derby

I assume your aerial points at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. All the channels on Mux2 have been intermittent or non-existent in the Derby and near by localities for a few weeks. So there is nothing wrong with your equipment and it isn't the climate. Be aware that what Arqiva say and what is really going on in reality with the TV signal transmission can be the exact opposite. On the bright side there are but a few weeks to go before DSO when, allegedly, all these problems will be history.

Is there a reason why I can get ITV4 and Film4 on my Digital Freeview TV but not on my receently acquired Freeview +HD HDD recorder? Both are panasonic. I assume loft ariel is ok since all channels are fine on TV (and others in the house). Is it because the recorders tuner is 'different' to that of the TV and will it come good once the switchover has occurred? I could actually get these two channels in May but numerous retunes etc have not brought them back. Thanks.

I checked all my connections yesterday morning and last night's HD viewing was excellent. I can only assume I had a poor connection somewhere. Strange that I could receive perfect pictures in SD but no signal at all in HD.

Perhaps someone can tell me the technical reason for that.
Gordon
Tuesday 26 July 2011 3:44AM
Yesterday I had a to attend to a TV reception problem.
Scenario .....
Direct aerial connection to VCR and out via fly-lead to TV. Recorded signal via fly-lead on meter was 76dB with useless reception on ITV, CH4, CH5 etc and only 76 TV / radio channels tuned in.

Signal on direct cable from aerial was 68dB. Connected the aerial cable direct to TV and re-tuned to receive 97 perfect TV / radio channels. Sorted!
Fly-leads that are not double screened and of digital quality can be the cause of many reception poor problems. Watch out for that one!!.
