I am having a problem with my bbc channels, but none of the others. The picture and the sound keep distorting and breaking up, not for long periods, only for seconds, but continuously.
could you let me know what the problem could be.
Thank you

I'm finding HD Freeview channels from Storeton are nearly always unavailable. Standard definition signal is perfect. Got a new booster two days ago and all was perfect. HD was 5x5 and standard def was 100% strength and 78% quality. Then half way through the Kings Speech started getting HD breakup and the following day none of the HD channels are even detectable and standard def quality has dropped to 61%. I really don't like Freeview.

Dave H: Purely for a test try removing the booster again, because if the booster is causing the signal to be too strong this will always affect HD before SD as well as causing the TV / boxes tuner to give false signal level indications.

Only mentioned as HD has been suffering from a weak signal recently, and if the power has been restored the booster (dependant on gain) could now be taking the signal level over the top thereby overloading the tuner.

Dave H: Why do you need a booster when you're 4 miles from the transmitter? What happens if you bypass it?

Hi

Thanks both for replying so soon.

I live in a conservation area and the town house rebuild I live in had the antenna put in the loft. Never had particularly reliable signal, especially in poor weather. My SD Humax is showing 61% strength and 100% quality. If I leave the booster out both drop below 20%-40%. My HD tuner in the TV itself just shrugs its shoulders. Not a sausage. But the other night it was all spot on and I changed nothing in the meantime. I can only assume we coincidentally had really excellent atmospheric conditions the evening I fitted the new booster. Hmm?

What a nightmare evening with this again. Just about managed to get SD BBC1 back but now there is no COM4 C23. Done several retunes and factory resets. Whatever they've been doing they messed something up.
