I'm in York and have just retuned my TV (Freeview built in) again, but still get only intermittent reception which is very frustrating! I've been having this problem for the last 6 weeks - any one else out there suffering too?

Problems started on ITV1 digital on Sunday evening: after 10pm couldn't get any digital TV stations. Still bad this morning, then suddenly went back to normal. Started again just before 10pm this evening, slightly later than yesterday. Can get BBC1 and 2 digital but nothing else on Freeview; analogue OK except poor picture on BBC1.

Have just read some other posts from different areas of the country: interesting that people lost channels at 8.30pm last night and 10pm tonight, same as us. Am I to infer that the weather (and thus Inversion) is identical to the minute from Reading to Richmond? Unlikely, being that we haven't had any of the warm weather everyone else has had.
Briantist
Tuesday 12 October 2010 8:06AM
Steve M: It is not YOUR local weather conditions that cause the problem, but that by the remote transmitter.

Many people in Oxford are getting, for example, Television France 1 (TF1), not BBC One.

Thanks for your reply, Briantist, but the transmitter doesn't seem that remote from here. However, the coincidences continue: recorded on PVR BBC1 10am to 11am both yesterday and today and got 38 minutes of recording both days. The weather round the transmitters must be repeating itself on a daily basis, eh?
Briantist
Tuesday 12 October 2010 7:12PM
SteveM: Yes, you would expect to have conditions that follow the time as the temperature inversion is created by the heat from the sun.
Ian
Tuesday 12 October 2010 8:24PM
I'm still having problems with receiving a consistant digital signal, there must be a problem with the transmitter, the weather alone would not cause the problem over such a long period of time.
Briantist
Tuesday 12 October 2010 8:37PM
Ian: Yes, yes it can. Sorry about that.

Saturday 13 November 2010 10:28PM
The Channels on MUX A seem to be on extreme low power. The EPG is working and it sometimes flashes 'bad signal' but generally just says 'no service'
This isn't the lowest power channels and it's in the middle of the frequency spread so I guess it must be a fault.

We have been having deterioration in Itv channels etc for a few weeks now. We retuned tonight and all Itv is now gone. BBC is better than it was though so I presume it isn't our aerial.

Please post a question, answer or commentIf you have Freeview reception problems before posting a question your must first do this Freeview reset procedure then see: Freeview reception has changed, Single frequency interference, and Freeview intermittent interference.

If you have no satellite signal, see Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'

If you have other problems, please provide a full (not partial) postcode (or preferably enter it in box at the top right) and indicate where if aerial is on the roof, in the loft or elsewhere.
