Colour bands denote aerial groups: Red:A Yellow:B Green:C/D Brown:E Grey:K Black:Wideband

Notes

'Out of group' frequencies are marked with a star. Analogue power output 500,000 Watts, post switchover average digital multiplex output will be 87,500 Watts.

To receive signals from this transmitter, the aerial must be mounted for horizontal polarization - the elements going from left to right.

Before switchover, the public service broadcasting multiplexes were 1, 2 and B; afterwards they were first PSB1, 2 and 3 but now called BBCA, D3+4 and BBCB. The commercial multiplexes A, C and D had initial post-switchover names COM4, 5 and 6; now they are SDN, ArqA and ArqB. At switchover BBCA, ArqA and ArqB will switch from 16QAM to 64QAM mode transmission, so five multiplexes will transmit in the 64QAM (2/3) 8k mode. BBCB is used for Freeview HD (DVB-T2, 256QAM), and has a pre-switchover service on selected main transmitters.

Before digital group A will not receive "five". (Aerial group appears to be: W). Upgrade to Wideband aerial requried to watch all Freeview channels during dual running of analogue and digital television. After switchover, you will have needed to upgrade to a Wideband aerial to receive some or all digital television services.

I have recently had a Twin Digital Aerial installled and have just purchased another Sony Digital TV. Both have built in Freeview, I get a perfect picture on BBC1 and 2 but suffer continuous pixilating and picture freeze on other Channels. The Transmitter is Belmont and I live in Grimsby

There's no doubt about it the low power from Belmont is causing digital viewers a lot of frustration.

The thing that really annoys me is when I can get a perfectly good picture, but the sound keeps dropping out followed by out of sync sound when it restores. The only cure I have so far found for this is to switich channel and back again to let the box reset. Before someone writes to say that it's probably my aerial or the box I use, I have a wideband aerial correctly sited and three boxes all show this problem. They are not all the same make and model of box either.

Roll on full power and let's hope these annoyances will be cured.

The whole way the network is planned has to take this into account, and it predicts some periods of failure in what become "mush" areas.

Hi Briantist.
When it happens its for quite a few hours and we lose all channels apart from bbc ones, it's not interference from household items as neighbors have the same problem, is it the inversion effect and if so will that still happen after switchover? or is it because of being right at the edge of the belmont transmitter range. (map)

will Snell: When all the transmitters are switched to digital-only transmission, then the effects of Inversion should be reduced.

Yes, the low signals you have will cause you to have the most chance of reception problems.

However, you may have a local interference source, in what sort of area are your "neighbours with the same problem"?
