Note: This is the only schedule for digital switchover. Digital services cannot be introduced before the dates listed for "testing purposes" as they will generally use the same transmission frequencies as the services they replace. Another alternative, available today, is Freesat.

NOTE: Rowridge COM multiplexes are expected to remain on their pre-switchover channel allocations (30, 37 & 33) for a short period after digital switchover NOTE: Rowridge will broadcast both horizontally and vertically polarised signals for all six multiplexes after switchover.

Colour bands denote aerial groups: Red:A Yellow:B Green:C/D Brown:E Grey:K Black:Wideband

Notes

'Out of group' frequencies are marked with a star. Analogue power output 500,000 Watts, post switchover average digital multiplex output will be 150,000 Watts.

To receive signals from this transmitter, the aerial must be mounted for horizontal polarization - the elements going from left to right.

Before switchover, the public service broadcasting multiplexes were 1, 2 and B; afterwards they were first PSB1, 2 and 3 but now called BBCA, D3+4 and BBCB. The commercial multiplexes A, C and D had initial post-switchover names COM4, 5 and 6; now they are SDN, ArqA and ArqB. At switchover BBCA, ArqA and ArqB will switch from 16QAM to 64QAM mode transmission, so five multiplexes will transmit in the 64QAM (2/3) 8k mode. BBCB is used for Freeview HD (DVB-T2, 256QAM), and has a pre-switchover service on selected main transmitters.

After switchover an existing group A aerial will provide all digital TV services.

The aerial must be mounted horizontally, with the elements in the left-right position

See full list of analogue transmitters for a complete list of shutdown dates.

Self-help relays

Self-help relays are transmitters that are not owned by the broadcasting and transmission companies, but by the local users. An active deflector (AD) re-transmits the analogue broadcasts on the same frequencies as the original broadcasts, while a transposer (T) transmits the received broadcasts on different frequencies.

I lost ITV 1/CH4/BBC2 Mux on June 14th in the evening & they went off again tonight around 9 pm. Absolutely no signal pulsing to very low intermttently. As before there are no reported transmitter issues - So what is the cause of this problem - the majority of other channels are perfectly OK, strong signal levels.

Colin: Are you still having this problem? If so, perhaps Freeview intermittent interference | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 can help?

We are served by Rowridge. Our main TV is through BTVision but we have a second set that is served by Rowridge through a conventional ariel.
I have tuned the set top box to received the freeview channels with the exception of BBC 1 & 2 and ITV 1& 2 channels.

Advice on how to obtain these would be gratefull received.

John Best: You need to retune the boxes using this procedure - My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002

Freeview retune was very good in my area. The signal strength had improved and the picture quality with it. The first day missed a few channels with program information which was necessary for recording on my hard disc recorder. This was corrected automatically on the second day.

Even the kitchen TV on a portable arial was able (for the first time), to receive all the Treeview channels (map)

Yes the Freeview picture quality has improved since the re-tune on the 30th. It could be that due to the retuning being done near lunchtime, the communal arial was not fully stretched.

WE ARE HAPPY WITH THE RESULT (map)

With respect to the ROWRIDGE transmitter, it appears the information you give compares badly with the official position.

Aerials will need to be mounted VERTICALLY to get the best reception, especially for those living in weaker signal areas.

It appears the French transmitters will cause less interference with the change in polarisation from some time in 2012.

Hopefully there won't be a whole raft of new problems when analogue signals are switched off and digital signals ramped up from Rowridge.

I decided on Freesat for some TVs rather than live through the usual disruption that I have come to expect with Rowridge changes.

If Freeview quality is still poor in 2012, with missing channels and video and sound disruption on some channels, I will need to replace old Freeview boxes with Freesat equipment.

I noticed Channel 5 from Rowridge had picture problems with fast or diagonal movement, now I've noticed Channel 4 seems to have the same problems. Any idea why? (map)

Allan Isaacs: FIVE does not broadcast from Rowridge on analogue; do you mean you have interference on Freeview Multiplex 2?

Possible bug on this page: The switchover schedule shows the current analogue+digital as running until Thursday 1st March 2012, and then the digital-only transmissions starting on Friday 30th March 2012. Surely this doesn't mean a month with no transmissions? (map)

Are there any problems etc with the Rowridge Transmitter? All of a sudden we have trouble receiving a sigal through our TV with built in Freeview. I cant view ITV and Channel 4 channels very well at all and BBC has started to have little picture glitches.
If anyone can shed some light smashing, if not I am going to have to pay for satellite.
Cheers

However, I would check everything on Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice before rushing out to get Freesat.

We are getting no, or garbled signal on freeview for ITV1, C4 C5 and others on MUX2(I think) in Fordingbridge. Is there a problem as other MUXs are OK.
