Notes

'Out of group' frequencies are marked with a star. Analogue power output 250 Watts, post switchover average digital multiplex output will be 50 Watts.

To receive signals from this transmitter, the aerial must be mounted for vertical polarization - the elements going from top to bottom.

Before switchover, the public service broadcasting multiplexes were 1, 2 and B; afterwards they were first PSB1, 2 and 3 but now called BBCA, D3+4 and BBCB. The commercial multiplexes A, C and D had initial post-switchover names COM4, 5 and 6; now they are SDN, ArqA and ArqB. At switchover BBCA, ArqA and ArqB will switch from 16QAM to 64QAM mode transmission, so five multiplexes will transmit in the 64QAM (2/3) 8k mode. BBCB is used for Freeview HD (DVB-T2, 256QAM), and has a pre-switchover service on selected main transmitters.

After switchover an existing group B aerial will provide all digital TV services.

I have heard that our TV signal which in the past has come from Stockland transmitter is to be switched and will come from St.Thomas transmitter. Is this correct -if so when will this happen and will we need a new aeriel?
Also is a new aeriel needed when the switchover to digital TV occurs. We live in flats so any aeriel changes affect many. Our post code is EX2 4SW.

W Prophet: You get your signal from whereever you point your aerial. No new aerial is required for this transmitter.

So what will happen to CH51 after switchover?
Could they not use that for an extra MUX?

chris: There really isn't any need. If you can get analogue now, you will get Freeview at switchover.

The switchover to DTT for Exeter St Thomas shows that from 2 December "The following Freeview digital services will be available:
Channel 4 HD ITV HD BBC HD". Is that REALLY true - that we will be able to receive HD broadcasts through Freeview?

I bought a new digital TV for my aunt who lives in Topsham, at an address that the website says is covered by the Stockland Hill transmitter. This TV is supposed to have integral Freeview, but scanning for channels brings only analogue and no digital channels. The TV retailer explained that my aunt's address is served not by Stockland Hill but by an Exeter transmitter that will not provide digital channels until the switchover next month. Does that mean the only way to get digital now is cable or satellite? (map)

I have had a bush freesat box installed profesionally, upon my first tuning the box found all the channels but had "ghosting" lines running down the screen and a line running horizontally, i took the box back and swapped it for another one, retuned exactly the same, i have an ok picture on bbc and itv hd but not perfect! also when i take my hd lead out it makes no difference it seems to be recieving through the scart on its own, is this right?
