NOTE: After the PSB multiplexes switch at Nottingham, the commercial multiplexes will use temporary frequencies for some months before adopting their final frequencies and powers. During this transition period, the commercial multiplexes will use the following frequencies: SDN ch 67 (40W), Arqiva A ch 63 (40W), Arqiva B ch 59 40W).

Colour bands denote aerial groups: Red:A Yellow:B Green:C/D Brown:E Grey:K Black:Wideband

Notes

'Out of group' frequencies are marked with a star. Analogue power output 2,000 Watts, post switchover average digital multiplex output will be 343 Watts.

To receive signals from this transmitter, the aerial must be mounted for vertical polarization - the elements going from top to bottom.

Before switchover, the public service broadcasting multiplexes were 1, 2 and B; afterwards they were first PSB1, 2 and 3 but now called BBCA, D3+4 and BBCB. The commercial multiplexes A, C and D had initial post-switchover names COM4, 5 and 6; now they are SDN, ArqA and ArqB. At switchover BBCA, ArqA and ArqB will switch from 16QAM to 64QAM mode transmission, so five multiplexes will transmit in the 64QAM (2/3) 8k mode. BBCB is used for Freeview HD (DVB-T2, 256QAM), and has a pre-switchover service on selected main transmitters.

Upgrade to Wideband aerial requried to watch all Freeview channels during dual running of analogue and digital television. After switchover, you will have needed to upgrade to a Wideband aerial to receive some or all digital television services.

Well, I just hope these channel allocations are not the final ones! Currently here (NG12 2HZ), Waltham is non-existent due to high ground in the way. Nottingham digital has severe co-channel from Bolehill on ch 53. Nottingham analogue is unusable on ch 21, 24, 27 and 31 due to co-channel from Sheffield (about 3 degrees off beam!).

Post switchover, ch 21, 24 and 27 will be digital at Nottingham AND Sheffield. So instead of one dodgy mux, we will have 3!

Incidentally you can delete some of your 'ITV incumbent history'. Waltham only got ITV in 1970, Nottingham in 1973!

David Robinson: these are the current allocations, there are bound to be changes as the switchover process rolls out. However, remember too that the problem of nearby transmitters using the same transmission frequency is an ANALOGUE problem. The COFDM digital standard is specifically designed to work with transmitters using the same frequencies - in some countries (ie Spain) whole national networks use SFNs (single frequency networks).

What it actually says is "which you cannot receive Freeview from" which is not the same thing as the transmitter not transmitting Freeview...

Ian Grice: if the signal level prediction is too low, even if you have line-of-sight and good analogue reception the predictor says which you cannot receive Freeview from" rather than "does not transmit Freeview".

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help; I live in an apartment block with roof top communal aerial in Nottingham city centre (so Waltham transmittor I think?) had a freeview box (digihome) working perfectly for about 3 weeks apart from occasional blips in sound til yesterday when I lost lots of channels. I've tried changing box on the recommendation of digihome and got a replacement, but still all I can get is the BBC channels, no ITv or channel 4 or any of the other freeview non-BBC ones, have done various re-scans etc but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea why? My postcode is apparently too recent to check out the signal...is there a general Nottingham problem and is it likely to get sorted anytime soon or is it my equipment (though it's a different box, like I said, and I tried different aerial leads etc). Any help would be much appreciated as currently haven't even got all the terrestrial channels!! Thanks!

I can only receive a few channels from Waltham. My local transmitter is Giltbrook but does not appear to be broadcasting any digital at this time. Can you advise when it is planned for any to start from Giltbrook?

Does anyone know when this transmitter was first erected ?

Which areas tuned to this transmitter in the 1970s when Sutton Coldfield & Waltham were both ATV from Birmingham & Ch21 was Midlands Today & Nationwide & not EMT ?

How far is this relay picked up ?

I know its widely used at Giltbrook, Awsworth etc..

Will there still be co channel interference when the Sheffield relay switches over to full power digital that currently uses the same group of channels 21, 27, 24, & 31.

I live in Eastwood & get a better freeview & annalogue signal from Waltham.

Will the Sheffield relay interfere with Nottingham after switchover as many of the allocations are the same.

As Sheffield is 21, 27,24 & 31 which causes co channel interference to the Notts relay.

Am I the only one who keeps loosing ITV channels, this loss only affects all ITV C4 but not BBC channels. Everything can be fine for a few days then they just cut of.
If anyone is experiencing the same problems or can suggest a solution please post a reply.
The Arial is the latest type and cost more than "freesat" which I am considering as a replacement for freeview.

I have been having a problem with ITV on the freeview box since Monday, was ok Monday night but now unwatchable. BBc channels are working fine and have been watching ITV through analogue but the signal isnt too great but at least it's watchable. This morning channel 4 isnt working aswell. Don't know a solution yet though.

I assume that the Nottingham transmitter is a relay station and so after the retune I will lose ITV3 & ITV4. Does anyone know if this is correct ?

Peter: No, you are incorrect. It is only the switched-over relays that will not have ITV3 and ITV4. The Nottingham transmitter is a main Freeview transmitter. Freeview on Nottingham TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV + switchover advice, since 2002 for details.

Can anyone answer this question please - I have a portable tv with a sagem STB in my bedroom plugged into a wall aeriel socket butthe portable tv keeps losing the analogue channels and then they just return, the main television in the lounge is virgin but the analogue is working fine. My freeview is completely ruined as i can only get about 7 channels that actually work. when the analogue comes on the better picture i get on freeview.
Does any of this make sense to anyone.
I have tried someone elses set top box and its just the same so its not the set top box and the aerial is about 3 years old.

I have tried everything that has been suggested on here and still nothing works.

Briantist - Not that i can see have had virgin for 10 years now and freeview for about 4 years and nothing has changed.
There is a car park next to me that has some portacabins in them (delivered about 2 months ago as there is some works around here) and to be honest I thought that maybe that might be the problem but only myself is affected with this, have been and checked with the other 3 flats in the block but they are all ok and so i ruled that out.
