Hi brian, in the centre of the screen appoximately 12 inches across and 12 up there is an oval shape which is tinged yellow.
more noticable on black and white, even if yo go onto normal tv and show up the untuned channels the black and white dots are tinged yellow.. it is still under guarantee and comet will be out on monday, but im curious

thats what I was thinking it may be, a backlight gone, whatever it is its there but I will let you know when engineer comes next week
GB
as its still covered they can check it for me...
i was not going to take out the extra £89 cover on it, but at 700quid maybe i had better
GB
it is covered by guarantee at the moment but what could go wrong in the future brian? I know they will send me an insurance document out to cover the tv after that so what else can go wrong with one of these tvs?
a £5.00 bulb is okay but what else can go wrong??

hello brian, the engineer from comet came and looked at my tv. He said it is the actual screen at fault and has ordered one to fit next monday. apparently there were black blotches on my blue screen which showed it was faulty but I have had them since day one. So ho[pefully he will sort it out

Anyone help in how I can get 5.1 surround from my blue ray player?
I have an opt cable going from my sky hd box to my 5.1 surround box, so no problem there, but I have to use the white and red aux cables to get sound from my blue ray box. is there any other way around the problem? I want to connect my hd box, blue ray and tv together using hdmi which is no problem, but how do I get 5.1 surround sound?from all

lutonfan hi,
I fitted hdmi to sky box and blue ray palyer and I get sound from the front 3 speakers but nothing from my rear speakers. But the interesting thing is that the 5.1 is also a dvd player and if I test the speakers, I get all surround sound..

Lutonfan, I solved my problem.
I connected my sky hd box and blue ray player to tv via hdmi, then I used two opt digital cables which I fitted to a switcher, which switches over from one to the other..

sky have it pretty much wrapped up. I hate paying them the money but with a family that likes certain individual programmes I personally cannot get them all for the cheapest price.they are all in different packages. football is the key, take it away and put it back on free to air and sky will lose a big part of their appeal

I found this site by chance over 2 years ago. Brian you and the guys have helped with many problems concerning many issues. even today I had a comet tv repair man who changed my screen for me, while doing it he asked about a box I had bought. I told him about this site and the info I got from it and he wrote it down for his personal use.

I HAVE been on sky hd for 12 mths but am now looking at using my freeview top up tv box again. The problem is that the picture stalls or freezes at times. A quick check shows the quality of signal at 6/7 out of ten
but strength at 3 or 4. if I put the aerial into my sony tv however, the signal shows strong. how can i get pictures that do not freeze or jump

Hi Brian, I am in CV12 0LQ I should be on waltham but the guy who put a new aerial up for me last year aimed it at sutton coldfield. I have a standard aerial fitted and he showed me the signal and why I should have no problems. I must say that since I last used this box the tv seems to have settled down a bit and it does not seem to jump as much. I have top up tv on trial free for a month so have nothing to lose. Do you think I would benefit from a wideband aerial and face it to waltham?

I think the signal is not strong enough to split between the two hds. I have today cancelled the top up again, and will revert to sky until I can get better signal
GB
Bob I understand that you have to get sky to tie it into the box you are using, a simple phone call does the trick
GB
your sky digital should come from sky itself so should be unaffected by the fire surely?
contact sky about your box it may be that your dish is mis aligned

Brierley Hill (Dudley, England) Full-Freeview transmitter

long time since I have been on these boards, nice to see Brian and the gang still offering good advice.
my question today is an old problem about freeview signal. I get mine from brierly hill or I can get it from waltham. my postcode being cv12 0lq. the signal I get is fine for my tv alone, but if I use a top up box etc and have to split the signal then problems occur. is it because the signal is still not strong enough? I am currently using virgin media so its not detrimental at the moment.
hello brian.. the box has a loop which feeds one hdrive while the arial feeds the other, so the signal coming into the box is split via the back of the box.take a look at a picture of a top up box and you will see what I mean.boxes like sky use two signals coming in fed seperately but the top up box uses one feed which is then split into two

the signal going into my freeview on my samsung tv works okay but if i use the top up box it stalls, freezes etc, so is it the box? fitted with cheap parts? as i said it makes nop difference as i am on virgin at the mo..

okay its been a long time since I was on here but if anyone can answer my questions you guys can here goes.. I have a samsung led tv, connected to it I have a virgin media v+ hd box, samsung blue ray player and x box 360 and wii. My problem is with some hd channels and programmes. mainly it has been bbc hd channel and e4hd. the problem is this.. halfway down the screen a white small triangle appears which when the picture moves fast, shows a dotted line either side of it, if you change channels it disappears, however if you go back to the menu guideand have the small screen at the top right hand of tv as you look at it, the triangle will be in that screen but NOT on the main tv screen !! I am working on a theory that the screens affected could be on the same mux am I right or wrong. I have changed hdmi leads

steve, bedworth: cheers Brian, I have checked all cables again and swapped a few around, so far box has behaved itself, but I will contact virgin about it if it happens again
