Since Christmas 2008 I have had interferance on the free view reception on most programmes.the carrier channels from Sutton Coldfield causing the problem are Ch 44,47, 52, & 55. The BBC programmes on Ch 41 are recieved perfectly.
I had a wideband aerial fitted 2 years ago and reception was good most of the time until December 2009.
The problem is blocking & sound intermittant.
I have watched the "signal quality" level on my Panasonic LCD reciever and it is normally about 9 but does fluctuate down to 5.5 at times.
I have tried switching off household appliances and mobiles to no effect
Help please
Bob Loader When will more HD channels be available on freesat & what channels are they expected to be? I believe ITV transmit an HD channel on Freesat. I am not able to receive it here in North Midlands.
Can anyone give me a clue please
Bob Loader I cannot find ITV HD on my freesat tuner.
Is it available yet?
Thanks Chris for the ITV HD information, I will be on the look out for it. Thanks Braintist for the ITV HD update Nice to see you back Brian, keep up the good work
Bob Loader I enjoy Speedway. Recently a programme was broadcast by Sky Sports on their Red Button channel. Is there any way to set a Sky+ box in advance, to record such a programme please? Thanks Briantist,I was afraid that would be the situation Thanks Brian, you provide a great service I can't get BBC freeview HD from the Sutton Colfield/Lichfield aerials. I live between Stafford & Stoke. All other programms are at good signal strength.
Can you please tell me if they should be available now? Thanks Brian, my post code is ST15 0PQ.
Channel 5 analogue is fine. I'm using a Panasonic TX-L32S20B receiver which should have an HD tuner etc Thanks Brian, I guess I will have to wait I'm a grumpy old man and love to moan, not to you as this is an excellent website.
It's just that my TV has a virus that makes it almost impossible to hear people talking on most programmes. I call it MUSICK as it has a vague connection to music and it is nauseating. There seems no anti-virus to get rid of it. I have just tried to watch a programme about 1920s America and Wall Street crash which I had to give up after 10 mins. due to this noise.
Any ideas? Sky HD+ box. Is it possible to feed both dish inputs from one lead from the LNB?
Just a tempoary setup until the weather is more conducive to getting on the roof to add another coax feed. If not can dish input 2 be disabled on box to prevent timed recordings being lost?
Bob Can you please tell me what is going on. After switch-over we were led to believe that signal strength would be fantastic.
But ITV and HD programmes are on and off almost on a nightly basis. Are they still working on the transmitters, have they given any indication when stability might set in?
I am asking you because you have been so helpful in the past
My post code ST15 0PQ and picking up signals direct from Sutton Coldfield
Thanks for any help. Thanks Mike for your reply (2 Nov). Most of the time I have perfect reception, 10 on the signal "quality". However during the poor reception periods the level goes to zero. The main BBC channels are not affected.
I thought you may have some idea if they were still working on individual multiplexes
Yes I do receive Wrekin signals quite strong, I can see the Wrekin but I prefer to use the Sutton transmiter direct Getting excellent signal strength from Sutton Coldfield but on freeview I can't find ITV or BBC i players either on the TV or the Panasonic HDD recorder. both equipped with and connected to internet access.
However BBC i player is OK on Freesat reception.
Are they available on Freeview please?

Ade Holland:
Yes, it was great, we don't get enough jazz & big band music on TV. I have suggested several music programmes to BBC4 and they did put "Ella Fitzgerald in London" on.
They will move if we badger them.A few days ago a friend rang me to say that there was no EPG on BBC 1 & 2. She was using a Humax PVR 1000T. Using another PVR 1000 I found the same problem at my house 8 miles from her house. All other channels appeared to be OK. Retuning did not cure the fault so I set it back to manufacturers state & then retuned it. It worked!.
Retuned my friend's PVR today and that also worked.
What could have caused just 2 channels to lose the EPG when those 2 channels were fine on all the other TVs & recorders in both houses? Thanks jb38 for your interesting comments. The point about not erasing previous channels is very relevent as when I retuned my set I had duplicate BBC 1 & 2 channels, one with & one without EPG. Resetting to manufacturers conditions erased all channels.
