I live in Harlow Essex, a fringe area (CM18-6SR). Have a wideband loft aerial & a 10db amp. Can get 103 channels. Like others my Sky Sport 1 & 2 have gone But not worried. I know about multiplex allocations but can someone explain what COM is. I assume they are the commercial multiplexes which will stay on low power for the moment which I guess is the reason for the loss of Sky Sport. I have retuned my TV this morning and Mux A, ITV 3 Etc. appears to be missing. Are there any known problems with this. All were ok yesterday. Thanks Mike & JB38. Tried another retune this morning, but to no avail, have borrowed a meter & no signal from C31. I know I live in a fringe area CM18 but had an adequate signal off MuxA/SDN until 31 Aug 2011. Looks like I may have to do without the delights of MuxA for the forseeable future Re Lelpep: Best I got was 103 channels but as Briantist points out there is no standard for the way boxes report the number of Channels. My set tells me I am now down to 79, not going to count them though! Lelpep: Worthwhile removing your aerial connection & scanning occaisionally. If you still have channels at the end of the scan you need to clear the list. Your manual will normally tell you how. Kieren: I live in Harlow, another fringe area for Sandy Heath. My HD is excellent but there appears to be something strange about SDN/CH31 since the 31/08/11 switch. It is now missing from both my boxes. I have connected a signal strength meter and both Arq A and Arq B pumping out 20Kw come through as 40% signal & 65% quality. SDN allegedly broadcasting at the same power only registers intermittently, not sure technically why that should be. Before the changeover SDN, Arq A & B were Ok. The postcode predictor give Sdn as poor. KMJ Derby: Thanks for that post, very useful. Crystal Palace gives me good to variable on all channels. The fact CP is putting out HD on CH31 at 10Kw and being nearer than Sandy Heath probably explains my problem. Looks like I may have to wait until 18 April or 9 May next year to resolve this. Can get ITV 3 on my Freesat, that only leaves Quest which I shall miss. Can do without the others. Sorry should have thanked jb38 as well, missed that one Alan Peachey: I live in Harlow CM18 and have the same problem with SDN-Mux A. Signal comes up as 52% but quality is 0%, hence I have lost ITV3 etc. As soon as CP HD moves off CH 31, 18-Apr-12, all should be ok. If not on 9th May 2012 SDN moves to CH 51 and goes to full power. I live in Harlow CM18, a fringe area for Sandy, and had the same problem with SDN-CH31. However since 29th September I can now get SDN-CH31, signal strength & quality about 50% each. Have made no changes to my system, will have to wait 'til the weather turns cooler to see whether it is down to atmospherics or changes that have been made that have not been publicised. May try Steve's "magic shield" if problem recurs. Len Ogier:
I live in Harlow, CM18, I too have the same problem. All down to Crystal Palace broadcasting freeview HD on CH 31. Should impove on April 12th when CP HD moves to CH 30. Will get even better on May 9th when SDN from Sandy goes to CH 51 and power increases to 170Kw. JB38: Have just seen your post re: channels changing on 19th September. I have an Icecrypt Freeview box which "agrees" with your changes. Strange thing is though the integrated tuner on my TV says I am still for example getting Dave on 19 and Yesterday on 12. This applies to EPG & channel selected, not a worry but most peculiar. JB38: Full details: Postcode CM18 6SR, wideband aerial and 16 to 26 db variable amp, set at midpoint where it has always been. According to my Icecrypt box signal strength & quality circa 90% on all muxes. Icecrypt box ok, but then I can manually tune that whereas TV auto only. TV is a Bush LT26M. Did a retune as you suggested. All the channels are there but they are all, except PSB2Ch24, in the 800-900 range. Have tried varying amp gain and even bypassing it but to no avail. Have also reset TV as suggested but to no avail. Curiouser & curiouser. Any suggestions, have no real problems as I can use the Icecrypt as my tuner which I do most of the time. JB38: Sorry it is only PSB2 that is in the correct place. ITV at 3 is the start of my EPG.All other channels are in 800-900 range. I only have 10 channels on what I would consider my normal EPG range. The woman is one Sarah Mason. No I've never heard of her either! There are not many you View boxes about. Humax DTR T1000 is one costs about £279. BT & Talk Talk are offering them "free". Terms and conditions apply of course I imagine. I have the best of all worlds. Have an Icecrypt Freeview HD Box as the integrated tuner in my Bush TV is cr*p. Also have a Humax Freesat HD box. This can be switched between Freesat & non-Freesat so will pick up all the Sky FTA channels. Only drawback is no logical EPG and it is not possible, unless someone knows better, to pick up the FTV channels. Someone needs to produce a combined Freeview & Sky reciever, but I guess Sky would veto that.
