Interesting you state that I should get ITV Meridian Southampton on 103. Since August 2005, I have been getting the Meridian Kent/East Sussex operation on 103 under "ITV1 MerSE".

All my efforts at lobbying Sky and ITV have failed, so I hope that Sky EPG changes on 28 Feb will return me to Meridian South which of course is provided on the Midhurst analogue and digital transmitters.

Anything UKFree can do would be much appreciated. I know how to manually tune Meridian South, but it is the tenet of having the correct sub-region on 103 that is the point.

This may well increase ITV 1's share of the market, but surely regional TV is where ITV 1 SCORES over its competitors, particularly those only available on satellite.

I recall the days of Southern & London ITV when less than 50% of programming was nationally networked and scheduling catered for regional rather than national tastes (ie, miss the live Ready, Steady Go! Friday teatime on London, you could watch a repeat on Sunday afternoons on Southern particularly if you preferred Out of Town on Southern covering the same Friday slot.)

Am I just a nostalia freak, or do others out there agree?

Yes, I accept the cost reduction argument, but I do miss the regional flavour that each ITV company provided, not just in its regional news magazine and feature programmes, but also with style and presentation, eg, London : trendier and abrasive.. Southern : softer and more homely. True, this harks back to a less competitive age, but I do feel that such a return to regional bias would make ITV 1 more distinctive and appealing.

Midhurst (West Sussex, England) digital TV transmitter
Friday 24 April 2009 1:24PM Cranleigh
I live in Cranleigh and I have not been able to receive any TV or radio stations on Freeview from Midhurst on Mux D Channel 60 for a year now. But reception on all other frequencies from Midhurst has been fine. It appears as if power has been reduced, but I wonder whether increases in digital transmission power in France are to blame?
Midhurst (West Sussex, England) Full-Freeview transmitter

Am I alone in noticing that ITV 1+1 on Freeview 33 from Midhurst is carrying Meridian South East rather than South News? Interesting this, as I have been urging ITV and Sky for over 5 yrs to provide me(and doubtless other addresses in the Midhurst coverage area) with Meridian South on Sky Channel 103 rather than South-East, all to no avail! Can you point me in the right direction for advice please?
