Spartan: Yes, you are quite correct, as that box is not fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner which is necessary for HD reception, the DVB-T tuner as is fitted in your box just ignoring HD signals.

Adam B: Duplicate posting not intentional Adam, didnt notice you had replied!

John Jones: Indications are that there is on going engineering work taking place at the station resulting in the possibility of weak signals and periods of interruption to the service.

If you are referring to BBC News on EPG:80 then are you not receiving BBC1 / 2 either? as they are on the same multiplex.
GB
Rod Payne: Unfortunately not, as Findon is one of the numerous PSB only relays, the commercial multiplexes referred to being exactly as described insomuch paid for purely by business interests, and which because of the limited coverage of such relays it was considered by these interests that the returns expected would not justify the expense of contributing towards the running costs of the additional multiplexes, something which is very unlikely ever to change.

Gisoo: Provided your neighbours are indeed using Freeview (via normal aerial) for reception then its a Freeview box you require and "not" a Freesat one, if you wish to be able to record one channel whilst viewing another, or alternatively record two channels at the same time, then purchase a twin channel Freeview PVR, as that's really just a Freeview box with recording capabilities, you can of course get Freeview single channel PVR's but they are very limiting in what you can do.

You will though require an aerial to be installed, but you are predicted to have good reception across the board from Winter Hill, and that's likely where you neighbours aerial is facing.

In other words just abandon the Sky dish as far as using it for reception is concerned and concentrate on Freeview.

Just as a matter of interest have you got a Freeview TV? or is it an older analogue TV that you are intending to use purely as a monitor, the Freeview box (or PVR) coupled into it via a scart lead.

Roy: If you know for absolute certain that Freeview HD reception is possible in your area then it sounds suspiciously as though your TV is of the types commonly seen advertised (misleadingly) as being HD ready, models under that description being capable of showing an HD image but only from an external source.

You haven't given any details regarding location (pref: post code) nor the model of TV in question, but if you have a look in the TV's manual / specifications / tuner, see whether DVB-T or DVB-T2 is mentioned, as only the latter is capable of tuning in an HD transmission.

If you don't have the user manual give an update giving the model number of the TV involved.
