Watched part of last night's extraordinary illnesses - very upset and moved by janet's story. What a very brave and special person. Please will you give more precise information on what is going to happen to Sky 3. Is it just changing it's name or moving off Freeview? Also if it is staying on Freeview will it be on the same number I have it on now, channel 11? Please say it is staying and only changing it's name,

I am as deaf as a post, and rely on subtitles to enjoy a programme. Regrettably, subtitling on Sky3 -which I watched on Freeview channel 11 - was never very good; and since the name change to Pick TV despite being billed as being subtitled in my TV magazines.,in some instances it is non-existent. Please could you tell me why background noise (music)!! has to be so loud on some programmes. Just been watching Me or the Dog and have had a job to hear any dialogue. It isn't just this programme but as I am watching this one I thought I would contact you to find out if anything can be done as it quite ruins the programme and, to my mind, totally unnecessaryHazel Shrubsole: For most viewers, the mixing of music and speed is not a problem.
However, for a significant minority of people, this can cause problems. Generally speaking this is more likely as people age.
There are a few ways you deal with this:
- use the "tone" controls on the television set to promote the frequencies in speech (which are 85 to 255 Hz) and decrease the rest. This might be a cause of "turning down the treble".
- use the on-screen subtitles to help pick out the voice when it seems unclear.
Lots of people have this problems - see Radio 4 for those with hearing loss? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice . I like the road wars dut usually start at 10 pm. Maybe sometimes can I watch this during the day or earlier ? I think about 8 or 9 pm. steph its a text service from challange and pick that dont work as it wont let you exit it was taken of about 20 min ago so its now clearI'm delighted to see "Lie to Me" on your channel. I saw this program when I was in the States a year or so ago and wondered if/when it would appear in the UK. I LOVE PICK TV.
At home we watch it 85% of the time.... thanks to "Nothing to Declare" and the documentaries...

Pick TV, and all the channels on Freeview Mux5 (ARQ A) are unwatchable at the moment fron Sutton Coldfield since Thursday 1st December, the sound is choppy and sometimes unintelligable.
