Windermere My parents are having a problem with a Panasonic TU-CT30 set-top box. Previously the box was working flawlessly, but since the last re-tune there is a problem with ITV2.
When ITV2 (Freeview channel 6) is selected, although the EPG brings up details for ITV2, the picture on-screen is E4.
When E4 (Freeview channel 28) is selected, although the EPG brings up details for E4, and the picture on-screen is E4.
The STB box is fed from a roof-top aerial with perfect line-of-sight to the Windermere transmitter. The aerial has a booster attached to feed multiple rooms.
In another room, an LG IDTV (fed by the same route) has no problem showing ITV2.
I can't see any sources of interference near the STB.
I thought the problem might be a weak signal from Lancaster or Winter Hill being selected by mistake, but with the booster turned off, the signal is too weak for the STB to detect any channels (the LG IDTV can show some, albeit with horrible breakup, so I guess the LG tuner is more sensitive).
Any ideas what the problem might be?WalkerTuesday 1 September 2009 10:41AM
Windermere Briantist - tried that, but it made no difference. Resetting the STB to factory defaults and then retuning doesn't help either.
No other channels seem to be affected, just ITV2. And even then the on-screen EPG shows the programme information for ITV2 but the picture from E4. If it was just a channel swap between ITV2 and E4, I think they could live with it, but with no ITV2 my Dad is concerned about missing the footabll, and thinking about buying a new STB.
This seems a shame since otherwise the STB is fine. (I'm trying to persuade them not to buy any new equipment until Freeview HD stuff is available, since that would mean having to upgrade again.)Walker: Did you follow the listed procedure or did you "reset the STB to factory defaults and then retuning". You must follow the instructions to the letter! WalkerWednesday 2 September 2009 6:26PM
Windermere Briantist - I've tried the method listed on this site but it made no difference. I've also tried the STB's reset to factory defaults + full re-scan, but that doesn't make any difference either.
Is the 30th September Freeview Mux / channel re-organisation likely to fix the problem? (Or make it worse?)Walker: The wholesale changes they are making probably stand more chance of making things better than worse. Given that you are not supposed to have the problem in the first place... WalkerSaturday 3 October 2009 12:16PM
Windermere Briantist - an update from Windermere, since the retune the problem has reversed. Now the ITV2 picture shows up when either ITV2 or E4 is selcted, and the E4 picture is unavailable (although the E4 programme information shows on the EPG).
Still this is better than before since my parents are more likely to watch ITV2 than E4. (Now they're annoyed they've lost ITV3 and ITV4 for an HD signal they are unlikely to get in time for the World Cup next year!)Neil ParkerSaturday 10 October 2009 5:13PM
Hey everybody! I had similar problems with losing all programme information for channels over 27 (The old ITV2 +1) channel. And managed to solve it by going into manual tuning on my box and deleting that station from the list. (ITV2+1 is still available on ch33, although incorrectly named ITV). After that, everything else started working fine again! Hope it works for you too!gemmaSunday 1 November 2009 10:38PM
I had itv2+1 then retuned my telly and have now lost it along with channel 5 it says itv2+1 is now channel 33 but this does not work either HELP !!!!!Mike RaydenSaturday 19 December 2009 7:23PM
Hi, I am dismayed to find I have lost ITV 2+1,that was the only station I could watch for instance the Simpsons without annoying dubbed voices. I still have 2 etc. I really need to get it back before tomorrow. No Simpsons, I am living in North Germany. German TV after 20.00 hours is simply terrible. I am in culture shock. what the heck does URL mean?PeteSunday 20 December 2009 11:37AM
MIKE R : I thought The Simpsons was on Channel 4+1 not ITV 2+1 ?? as Channel 4 currently have the rights ? It's also on Ch 4 too ?
Channel 4+1 is on FREESAT Ch. 121 ; Freeview Channel 13 and Sky Ch. 135.
Channel 4 is on FREESAT Ch. 104 ; Freeview Channel 4 and Sky Ch. 104.
THE SIMPSONS :
Sun 20 Dec 15:20hrs GMT (16:20 CET) Ch. 4
and 16:20 GMT (17:20 CET) Ch. 4+1
Weekdays over Christmas 17:00 GMT Ch 4 / 18:00 Ch. 4+1 an hour earlier than usual ! Two episodes back to back. Add one hour for CET times.
