Angie: On the assumption that you are using the Durris transmitter then go into the "manual tune" menu on one of your TV's or boxes used and enter mux Ch29 (used by Film 4) but do NOT press search or scan, because if the signal is there it will indicate a level, note whatever it is and then change the channel number to mux Ch23 (ITV3 etc) and compare the two readings, this being a used as a rough guide as to any problems as both these transmitters are on the same power.Margaret IrelandMonday 21 January 2013 2:36PM
Can I watch a film that I put I the to watch box and how do I do that! I know I can't do it on my iPad but can on our computer.Chris BruceSaturday 2 February 2013 1:34PM

Post Code is HP15, I have BT Vision and I can't get Film4+1, I've tried a retune to no avail, I believe that Crystal Palace is my transmitter, should I turn the aerial around to the opposite direction? to Oxford? All other channels seem okayTerenceSaturday 2 March 2013 8:37PM
Hi
My postcode is PO5.I have lost two channels
Film Four and Yesterday.Retuning does not
regain channels.Can anyone help?anne haversSunday 3 March 2013 5:49PM
on my Freview TV down south I could get Yesterday, film 4 and Discovery, now in Berwick upon Tweed on the same TV I can't, please tell me how to get them.anne havers: Not all areas can receive the Commercial channels. In some cases a replacement aerial may bring them in, and in others viewers will only receive the Public Service (PSB) channels. For an explanation, see:
Londonderry (Northern Ireland) digital TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice
Berwick-upon-Tweed has its own transmitter due to the fact that it's in a valley; it being at the mouth of the Tweed. This transmitter only carries PSB channels, so if your aerial points to it then that's all you'll get. It is to the north of the town on Camphill and your aerial will be vertical (elements up/down).
If you are lucky, you may be able to receive from the main transmitter which is Chatton. This broadcasts all channels, is to the south of the town and aerials are horizontal (elements flat).
As I say, Berwick is in a valley which means that you may be pushing it to receive from Chatton. lloydTuesday 5 March 2013 11:10PM
Beaminster I too have recently lost channels and signal quality, especially at night there's lots of drop-out. Lost channels include Film4, Yesterday & ITV4 - My aerial is pointed at Stockland Hill, though recently they have knocked down most of Rampisham so assuming the UHF has gone.. I've retuned a few times and it seems to be getting worse. Any ideas if there are problems in the area / transmitter etc. thanks, LMauriceSunday 24 March 2013 8:41PM
We get tv from the Malvern Worcestershire transmitter.
Channel 55 is very poor with lots of breakup. However channel 53 carrying the BBC is perfect. Why should this be?

Any chance of showing 'The Glen Miller Story' starring James Stuart?
Great film, and will make a change from 'The devil wears prada' or the other "3" movies you keep showing over and over and over and over etc. on Film 4.
Thank you.

Monmouth I live in the NP25 area, and I think my aerial is pointed towards Cardiff. The aerial is horizontal.
Ever since we had to retune our TVs last month, we've not been able to get Film4 or Al Jazeera. I have 2 digital TVs & a hard driver recorder, each with built-in tuners, and I can't get these channels on any of them despite having tried the auto retune many times.
Could someone please advise me as to what I should do next.Ann Khaneka: Try a manual tune of UHF channel 39 which is what the missing services are carried on.
Having selected or entered 39, before pressing the button to scan, see if it gives an indication of strength and quality.
Do you have a second aerial which points in the opposite direction and which is connected to the aerial pointing towards Cardiff? KMJ,DerbyMonday 15 April 2013 5:37PM
Ann Khaneka: DUK do not make a prediction for reception of the COM muxes from Wenvoe at your location. This is likely to be because interference is anticipated from another transmitter that shares the same frequencies. If you are able to receive ITV3 and Sky News without problems it is because the level of interference is less than anticipated on those frequencies. However as C39 is affected, (and presumably C49 was not), the propogation of the interfering signal on C39 is better than on the other frequencies. Sometimes repositioning an aerial can find a null for an unwanted signal, however it may be that at least for the present ArqB is no longer available from Wenvoe.Terry NoakesWednesday 17 April 2013 8:59AM
Lost Film 4 after april 17th retune: Angus DD8 scotland, from both the Panasonics TV in built tuner and humax youview box.
I was actually watching Film 4 when it went of air with signal to week message, retuned TV and humax and it was gone. I had something like 116 channels before retune now have 88!?. New ariel installed about 4 months ago due to reception breakup and had great reception prior to this retune.
whats happened?MichaelWednesday 17 April 2013 9:16AM
Terry Noakes: BBCA and ArqB muxes changed their frequency on the Angus transmitter overnight, so you'll need to retune/reset box to get the channels back.Terry NoakesWednesday 17 April 2013 9:45AM
Hi Micheal,
thanks for reply, I have retuned both TV and Humax box, in fact I retuned humax youview twice, and as I previously said after retune I now have 88 channels instead of approx 116 including the loss of Film 4.
thanksMichaelWednesday 17 April 2013 10:22AM
Terry Noakes: Try menu > setup > shipping conditions for the Panasonic, and menu > installation > default setting for the Humax?
What happens if you do a manual retune for channel 49 or 60?
Obviously the reason you're not getting 116 channels is because your equipment isn't picking up the new frequencies.Terry NoakesWednesday 17 April 2013 10:44AM
Hi Micheal,
I retuned again with auto retune on both tv and humax just a few minutes ago and they appear to be back.
many thanks

I've also dropped to 88 channels using toshiba built in freeview on Angus transmitter. Done countless rescans and full resets but problem persists. Manually scanned for new frequencies but still nothing. Any ideas anyone?Kenny Shand: On the road where the grid reference associated with your posting is a large building that looks as if it might be a block of flats which might mean you are using a communal aerial. Some communal aerial systems will require adjustment in order to allow the new frequency through, the reason being because they are fitted with filters that only allow through frequencies that are used by the transmitter.
If your aerial is fed by a box such as a recorder of description, as a test connect the TV directly to the aerial socket on the wall, so that you know that the box isn't the issue. Kenny ShandThursday 18 April 2013 1:54PM
It is a communal aerial and there's no box attached I reckon it's probably the aerial in that case. Oh well no film 4 for now then!! Need to speak to property management companyKenny Shand: Once it's been changed, you may be able to add Film4 manually by manually tuning/scanning to UHF channel 49. Having returned my TV I can get Film 4 on freesat. However I on my Panasonic DVD Recorder whilst I get a channel for Film 4, it shows that there is'no signal'.
My postcode is PH11 8AX. Have retuned my tv to get Film 4 after the April 17th retune but I am unable to receive it on my Panasonic DVD recorder it says there is no signal. jb38Monday 22 April 2013 6:15PM
Colin Elliot: Yes, but when Freeview (DVB) is selected on your Freesat TV is it able to receive (15) Film 4? because Film 4 is transmitted on mux Ch49 from the Blairgowrie transmitter.
You can check if the signal is being received by going into the Freeview "manual" tuning menu and entering Ch49 into the box, but with this action NOT being followed by pressing search or scan, because if a signal is being received its strength / quality will be indicated immediately after having entered Ch49.

I too have lost Film4 after the retune in the Angus area. Actually, I have lost every channel transmitted on 794.000MHz, all 24 of them:
ITV4
Film4
AlJazeera Eng
Russia Today
4Music
VIVA
and many more. I am using a Hauppauge USB Tuner (WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick), so it seems I cannot receive this frequency.
However there is a software update I can apply, so I will retest after that. It may accommodate the extra frequencies.
Mike

Yes, updating the software to WinTV v7.0.30150 (CD 2.7)has done the trick, Film4 now available again.
So are other once-missing channels, though I haven't tried all of them.

Help!LizThursday 16 May 2013 10:02PM
Hi there, I live in bh21 and have had intermittent problems with film 4 and itv4 all through this switch over period. It has been good for about a month and now is frustratingly poor again. Are they still fiddling or is there something I need to do?Liz: If your aerial is pointing to the Rowridge transmitter on the Isle of Wight then have your aerial changed so that it is mounted vertically.
Rowridge broadcasts horizontally and vertically and has been doing so since April last year. The horizontal signals are there to work with existing aerials, but some may find vertical polarisation better.
The Commercial (COM) channels which carry the likes of ITV4 and Film4 are strongly vertically. This is because they are effectively restricted horizontally due to other transmitters using the same frequencies. To the west is Stockland Hill which broadcasts only horizontally, so you could be being affected by its signal. Switching your aerial for vertical polarisation will help 'rejection' of the unwanted Stockland signal (if it is present) as well as taking advantage of the strong signals from Rowridge.
