I live in Londonderry, in the west of Northern Ireland and cannot get the Sky satellite because of hills and trees in the way of the signal [I have had 3 installers try and fail to get the signal]. I am outside the official Freeview reception area but I managed to get Freeview by having a high gain aerial and amplifier installed on a tall pole. Can't get BBC3 or BBCNews24 though, the signal is too weak. We don't have cable, and the local transmitter will be the last one in the UK to go digital, in 2013. I am disappointed that DTTV is capable of carrying so few multiplexes [6 compared to 105 on satellite]. There are many places in the west of the UK, particularly western Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Cornwall, which cannot get Sky from its current satellite. Are there any plans for a satellite in the western sky to cover these areas? Ken CrofuttSunday 16 December 2007 5:19AM
I find many of your documentaries informative and interesting and would like to record them for future viewing, but the programming guide provided by my provider here in Italy (Sky) doesn't bother listing your specials... so I have to catch as catch can. Where can I get a complete listing of upcoming programmes?Dean EnsorThursday 13 March 2008 11:25AM
I agree Ofcom should make more space available and put CNN on FREEVIEW. The lack of space on freeview is Ofcom responsiblity and should give viewers greater choice the shopping channels etc should goDean Ensor: Ofcom cannot create more space on Freeview, the six multiplexes were defined by the Broadcasting Act 1996. Ofcom does not allocate the channels, they are allocated commercially by the multiplex operators. jakeThursday 29 January 2009 8:23PM

Not a great loss in my opinion. It's presence did offer variety for a while, but it had nothing to offer compared to the BBC and Sky News channels - there was far to much self-promotion and a lot of light-weight content.
