Not really a very good swap for channel one but I guess cr****y quiz shows are cheaper to makemikip: Given that both channels consist of archive programmes, nothing is being made. S

Bristol should challenge be unavailable during the night on the wenvoe transmitter?Bryden: Did you retune this week as required? B
BrydenThursday 28 April 2011 11:19PM
No, in general. I also had the problem with virgin1. At around 7pm it cuts out and isn't back till around 6amBryden: Virgin 1 has been off air for many months now. B

I'm aware of that. Just saying the same thing happened. D

For anyone reading this the reason the pervious person was having a issue with challenge at night is because challange is only on air 6am-7pm in wales. All other nations have this channel 24 hours a day. Challenge timeshares with itv2+1 in wales and uses the same space that citv uses on english transmitters that is why you don't get citv.
The space we use for challenge is used by e4 in wales thats why you have this problem with challenge going off air at 7pm. Of course if s4c did not exist e4 would be on mux 2 in wales also then the welsh version on mux A would carry challenge 24 hours. B

Right,
Thanks so much Daniel, I was afraid it would be something like that. S

Hi Can anyone supply an updated list of Channel Name, LCN, SID, Vid, Aud, PMT, for all current freeview channels. Got a Compro T750 capture card and no matter what I do I can not get it to scan channels. However if I enter manually it works OK with good signal strength. Thanks in advanceT

share: I have a number of PCs, and various DVB-T cards/USB sticks, and for all, I use DVBViewer for recording.
It will accept multiple cards, so if you allocate a tuner for each multiplex, in theory you can record absolutely anything at anytime, no matter how many 'clash'.
Recording is very good quality indeed, and there are other possibilities for streaming/playback etc. The only requirement is that the drivers are Microsoft compatable, ie must not be some 'custom' manufacturer's version!
If you use the Channel Editor from the drop-down menu, it will automatically state all PMTs, PIDs, etc. for each channel. Cost is still only 15 euros (about £13.50), and is worth every penny. I have been using it successfully for years.

timonthenet,
Thanks for your suggestion downloaded the trial version, initial scan found no channels, however a full scan found all the channels. It gave me an idea, so in ComproDTV I changed the scan to frequency range 50,000 to 895,000. it also found all the channels, so for now going to stick with what I know as my remote works with the Compro software. Thanks again SimonT

Glad it worked.
Yes, not having a remote is a drawback, although a couple of remotes have had plugins written to support DVBViewer.
Usually when I tune/re-tune, I set the frequency for a particular mplex, the still press Scan Range. This is a lot quicker than scanning through multiple frequancies. This website has the frequecy details for all Freeview multiplex for each transmitter. For eg, here using Waltham, BBC ONE/TWO etc., is at 698,000kHz (which equates to frequency channel 49. ie [8 x 49] + 306 offset = 698). Scanning a range in DVBViewer of 698,000 to 698,000 pulls up all of mplex very quickly.

whats wrong with this channel its a cut off or froze or said we can not show this or just not come back on a few times this has happened i thought it was the signal in my old house but we have moved and it has done it again thanks carla.T

High Carla.
Apparently, Challenge has moved from it's current Mux Frequency, to a new one (Arq A, I believe), along with Dave, Sky News etc, replacing Pick TV+1, which ceases from today on Freeview.
I discovered this after my recording of Takeshi's Castle failed this evening. I do so wish these changes were better advertised.
Challenge has moved from SDN (C29) to ArqA (C56 - 754 MHz) as of 2:00 pm today.
This in theory should be easier to get (higher power), and makes it 24/7 all over the UK, including Wales (where it was only for 13 hours a day).timonthenet: Which is all very well, but doesn't seem to be listed on the official DMOL page. M

Anyone know the PMT and PCR PID of the old Challenge TV? It's SID was 15520, now 22226.

Sorry Brian, I wasn't moaning at this forum - far, far from it - this forum has helped tremendously at keeping up to date with all things digital. No, I was bemoaning BSkyB/Challenge themselves for not advertising the change. I got the news from the Digital Spy forum, and after a retune, confirmed the details to be accurate.
It was interesting to note that viewers thought the picture was sharper and clearer than when on the SDN Mux.

Is there any likelihood that Challenge TV will come to Freesat? I want to ditch Sky, but we don't have an aerial, so Freeview isn't an option unless we get one installed.

LyndaWednesday 4 January 2012 2:51PM
Waterlooville Liz: You should already have it. It's a regular on Freeview on channel 46 so I imagine Freesat may already have it ?L
LizFriday 6 January 2012 3:19PM
Lynda, it's not available on Freesat as standard. When I search for "non-Freesat" channels on my Humax box, I find Challenge and Challenge+1 (amongst hundreds of others) listed, however the signal is scrambled.N
NickTuesday 27 March 2012 11:05PM
Challenge, Yesterday etc should ALL be on Freesat. Freesat was sold to those of us who can't get a prooper signal on Freeview as an alternative equal service. We have been short-changed. We have to have rubbish shopping channels instead. If the regulator was worth the taxpayer's money it receives, it would do something about it.N
NickFriday 27 April 2012 12:00AM
Thanks Brian, but it does not explain why Sky is apparently happy to let us see Challenge on freeview, if we are not on one of the under-privilged 'light' transmitters.Nick: Sky is forbidden by Ofcom from providing pay services on Freeview directly, as they have a "dominant market position".
The Challenge slot on Freeview was one they got when they purchased channels from Virgin Media. J
janieWednesday 6 June 2012 6:44PM
why does challenge tv not show subtitles from freeview?T
TracieThursday 9 May 2013 4:35PM
If my sky is cut off will I still get challenge and tna impact Tracie: Challenge is free-to-air, so you will get the broadcasts of TNA Impact when you stop subscribing to Sky.
