Hi

Is Channel4+1 available on FreeToAir satellite (i.e. satellite receiver with no view card - hope I got the terminology right). Or is it under the Sky umbrella as with the non time shifted version.

If so, what is the frequency?

I am using the Skyline receiver from the recent B&Q package on our narrowboat. Yes it works a treat provided I keep a map to hand and can hear my better half while adjusting the dish diection on the roof!!

p.s. Also trying to tune in BBC HD - any ideas. I am assuming that the channel can be received on a non HD receiver and that the picture degrades to normal resolution - or am I mad?

Thanks in adavance for any help.

Steve: Channel 4, +1, E4, E4+1, More4 and More4+1 require FreesatfromSky card. Without an MPEG4 decoder you cannot watch HD channels, MPEG2 decoders cannot understand any MPEG4.

simon: The Channel4+1 channel (there are several advertising regions) is currently still encrypted and on the 'wrong' satellite (2B rather than 2D). It may be some time before this is fixed.

I'm a few miles from Winter Hill. Freeview recption on all channels has been very good until a few days ago when CH4+1 just turned into a blocky mess. The other channels are still OK, but CH4+1 is now totally unwatcheable. Tried two seperate receivers and aerials.

I had the same problem with Ch4 +1 up until a few days ago. I get my signal from Pendle Forest which is a line fed relay of Winter Hill. I had just before renewed the aerial cable with a satellite type to solve interference problems I had, so I wondered if that was the issue. However the problem seems to have cleared itself now and so I conclude it was probably a fault at the transmitter side.

Duncan: Yes, it must have been the regional reinsertion system that does the +1 channel having a problem. If it doesn't effect the rest of the channels on the multiplex, it is not a transmission issue.

Today, 07/06/10 watched a prog on diet cooking.
A roast chicken was cooked with supposedly less fat than an ordinary roast. It was based on Thai ingredients. It was cooked in beer. I think my way of cooking an authentic roast chicken is this. This is my recipe for a good old British roast. Use an oval roaster with a trivet at the bottom. Put a couple of tablespoons of water in the bottom of the roasting tin. Stuff cavity of chicken with halved lemons and limes. Put chicken in roaster. Squeeze runny honey over chicken, then sprinkle with sage and then worcester sauce. The sauce browns the chicken just like it was roasted with fat. Cook as usual. Delicious. Just like good old fashioned roast chicken but with less calories.
