the damn golfs on 3 bbc channels at the same time!!!!!Dave StephensWednesday 2 June 2010 7:42PM
Is it true that the Wales vs South Africa rugby is going to be on this channel on Saturday? If so, good, but I think its a bit rough on us Springbok supporters (and there are many many of us in the UK) that won't know about it or be able to get it. This also goes for the Welsh supporters in their diaspora too. I think its a bit rough myself.FERNANDOSaturday 5 June 2010 5:59PM

I am interested in the Formula 1 practice and qualifying for the British Grand Prix.
I am on holiday so want to set my recorder for them so I can watch them before the race.
Can you advise on timings so I can set my machine.

German Grand Prix.
Just enjoyed watching Qualification. Thank you.
Please will you encourage your commentator, the tall lad in the blue shirt to speak a little more slowly and clearly. A similar remedy would make the girl in the pits more interesting to listen to!
The drivers, whose first language is not English are frequently better unerstood I feel.

Two days in a row... sound in the morning with them Gay fella's and in the evening?? With the snooker??? NO SOUND??? WHY IS THAT???? 301???NigelSaturday 26 February 2011 7:14PM
I live about 2 miles from the Sandy Heath transmitter and have to manually tune my Humax PVR to prevent bad reception. I still, however, have problems with good reception on BBC4 and 301 even though they've been manually tuned. Any suggestions?Nigel: Is your aerial on the roof? What is your postcode please? domTuesday 5 April 2011 10:30PM
Hi
I can not get sound on my freeview box when watching channel 301, was wondering why this on ly eems to happen when they showing the grand prix qualifying. I live in cardiff
CheersMike Dimmock: Thanks, that is confirmed by my weekly scrape-and-check. I have updated the site and 301 is now showing on Mux 1 in pre-switched regions. Dorothy LodwickFriday 8 April 2011 7:34PM
My husband has just come across 301. How does he find out what is on. At the moment it is hit and miss.Mike DimmickFriday 8 April 2011 8:53PM
Dorothy Lodwick: 301 is the BBC's Red Button 'interactive' stream. See
BBC - BBC Internet Blog for the list of what's on.
Usually, when you're watching a BBC main channel and there's a related stream on 301, the 'Press Red' popup will appear in the top-right corner of the screen. (RG47SH) rosieSaturday 16 April 2011 6:17PM

Says its showing Scrum V Cardiff v Dragons, which I was looking forward to watching. Instead we are getting snooker, which is identical to what is being shown on BBC 2 and isn't even at a particularly exciting stage. No indication of why no Scrum V. Really cross.bernard campbellSunday 22 May 2011 9:23PM

can i watch bbc's channel 301 on sky and if so what channel is it on sky please?mick: Press the RED BUTTON on any BBC channel and select the appropriate live or interactive event from the menu. joan guyllMonday 13 June 2011 8:35PM
we've been using of Humax Freesat box to record BBc case history but we find that when we watch what we've recorded, the Audio description is on - even though we made sure that on our Freesat Box the AD is off. Can anyone explain how we could switch AD off for good?DavidTuesday 21 June 2011 12:11AM
Bedford joan guyll: In the main "MENU" select "Settings"
and then "Language" in here you can disable "Audio Description" once "Enabled" exit the MENU
on the remote find the key below "OPT+" has a "Speaker" and "?" on same button press and toggle between the two audio settings "Audio Description" OR "English" this can be done on "Play back" as well as "Live"PercussimFriday 24 June 2011 1:19PM
My info window says Formula 1 Practiuse is on now, but its still tennis...Mike DimmickFriday 24 June 2011 5:13PM
Percussim: Tennis took priority as two British women got through, as I understand it. Red Bee Media (who run playout for the BBC) don't always get the EPG data updated, or some boxes don't update if the programme ID doesn't change.
On other platforms, interactive streams don't even appear in the guide or provide now/next information. Me, I like being able to record the F1 Forum.sue shawMonday 27 June 2011 10:34AM
Doncaster i use to be able to record 301 now it says undefined with no info showing, i cannot tape 301 now WHY Samuel EggworthFriday 4 May 2012 6:19PM
what's wrong with 301 lately. snooker repeats the same frame over and over. Whoever's idea that was is hurting snooker's tv ratings. We dont want to watch the same frame repeat constantly a dozen times in a row or howevermany it is. It was on in the background and i counted to 4 times in a row same frame before turning off the telly. Same with football forums, its all unbearable. Lol unbelievable.Samuel Eggworth.I would take it up with the BBC with the person concerned with what you mentioned in your earlier text, not that anything will be done about it though ! james mackaySaturday 12 May 2012 10:45AM
is the f1 live on 301 in the morningGEORDIESaturday 19 May 2012 9:37AM
just been watching channel 301 for the last 20 minutes and all there is shown is a dirty white van, with cycles on the back, driving along the roads down in Cornwall. No comentary or nothing. This is riviting TV at its best!
Who ever organized this show needs to get out more!
All those people lining the road to watch a dirty white van pass by must have nothing better to do!!GEORDIESaturday 19 May 2012 9:48AM
surely it is not byond the wit of whoever is in charge of today's program on CH 301 to provide some sort of comentary on this silly olympic torch thingy in Cornwall.
What fools you all look!!!!!GEORDIESaturday 19 May 2012 9:50AM
If you want to commit a crime in Cornwall today is the day to do it. Why? Because all the Cornwell police seem to be following this dirty white van around the roads. How much is this costing us in wages andover-time I wonder?GEORDIESaturday 19 May 2012 9:51AM
Thank you: Spleen vented!fabMonday 18 June 2012 8:31PM
Aberdeen As I write, there's a Euro 2012 football match on 301, with the option to silence the commentary while retaining the ambient sound. What a great facility that is. I've noticed that 301 is the only Freeview channel where there's a 'multi audio' choice in the TV's options menu, although most of the time the second option labelled “und” (presumably for under-something) produces only silence. Is 301 technically unique in being able to offer this facility or could the others do so also, and why is it not used more, even on that channel. It would be great to be able to choose whether we want someone twittering on all the time. Mike DimmickTuesday 19 June 2012 4:34PM
fab: Channels can offer as many audio soundtracks as they want. Usually there are two: the regular soundtrack and audio description. TVs that understand audio description properly won't show the audio description as a separate soundtrack, as it's supposed to be mixed in with the regular soundtrack to help people with sight problems understand what's going on.
The soundtracks are otherwise labelled with the language that the soundtrack is in. The code comes from ISO 639-2. This might be 'eng' for English or, for BBC Alba, 'gla' for Gaelic. 'und' means 'undetermined', which is appropriate for crowd noise only!
I suspect the reason for the 'und' stream could be so that the service can ask the TV to add the specific commentary on top of the crowd noise, and save some bandwidth. The BBC still try to remain compatible with some equipment that doesn't support MHEG interactive content, so they don't apply this to 'proper' channels, only to 301, which is normally accessed through the 'Red Button' MHEG program.
Do be careful selecting this, as some equipment remembers your last language choice - either for that channel or for all channels!fabMonday 25 June 2012 7:44PM
Aberdeen Mike, thanks for that description. When you say, “channels can offer as many audio soundtracks as they want”, presumably doing so would be at the expense of something else, would it?BethWednesday 11 July 2012 2:25PM
Can I watch a previous 301 programme online please?BRENDA REDFORDWednesday 8 August 2012 8:29AM
I am having difficulty finding the times for the show jumping today. is it on channel 301?
