This channel is poor! It suffered from an awful opening night and the content appears to be unimgainative at this stage. It offers very little to pay TV Customers.

Your one hour long programme called 'DIET DOCTORS' would have been excellent if it weren't so ridiculously fast.
No time to wrie down any details.

I was currently watching Series six of Dawson's Creek and now I can't find it listed anywhere. Have you cancelled it or is it coming back? Why stop showing a programme in the middle of the very last series?
Briantist
Sunday 10 February 2008 10:10AM
R Law: I'm sorry, but the programme has stopped for the moment. UK Broadcasters may be withholding new episodes of non-UK programmes because of the writer's strike. It is also possible that they are saving the finale for a special showing.

Why does my Sony Bravia 32" screen digital TV purchased NEW two months ago CLOSE DOWN at 11 pm, much to my frustration and annoyance !!!!!!!!!
Briantist

I Montgomery: It is probably a feature that has been enabled, check in the menus for "auto shutoff" or "sleep timer" or similar.

I own a TV for which i pay my licence.i was watching 'when a stranger calls' last night and fell asleep before the end. i have tried every thing to get it on my computer but it is impossible. i really want to know the ending, and i believe you owe it to me. for some reason, i was asked to pay; i did...but still could not get the film. i would like some answers please.
Briantist
Sunday 25 July 2010 6:35AM
Sara Puddle: You do know that the TV Licence pays for the BBC, and not for any other broadcaster?

I've been looking and I can't see when that film was on last night. It certainly wasn't on FIVER.

Also, you didn't say who asked you to pay.

Briantist
Wednesday 2 February 2011 8:55AM
Patrick: No "codes" are required, you need a "freesat from Sky" card registered to an address in Northern Ireland or the Republic.

Actually the TV Licence does NOT just pay for the BBC channels. It actually also pays for all the work needed to make sure competing radio and digital TV signals flying through the air do not interfere with each other - if the licence fee did not cover this service you would not get clear TV or radio signals/channels. That's why you have to buy a licence even if you don't watch the BBC yet you do watch any other channel. If more people knew the truth about this maybe they'd be less upset about what they're paying for.
I've worked in satellite communications regarding television so know this to be fact.
If you watch ANY TV service you pay the fee to keep the service running clearly. ;)
No fee = No service = No TV channels for you. :)
Or does everyone forget that satellites etc need maintenance? :-P

Having said that - to the person that fell asleep during a programme they paid for..... it's noone's fault but your own if you fell asleep. If you buy a pay-per-view programme then don't fall asleep while it's on. :/ A cinema wouldn't give you a refund or a new ticket to watch the movie again if you fell asleep during it and a TV station can't be expected to hold responsibility for your sleeping times. :/ Noone owes you anything; sorry.
If you have a tendency to fall asleep during shows then go buy a TEVO Box of some kind so you can record your freeview programmes and play back the bits you missed in future.
Some pay-per-views let you re-watch the programme as many times as you like in 24 hours... but I get the impression you were only talking about paying for a TV Licence, not a pay-per-view show. If it's a movie you missed the ending from you could always buy a DVD or see if it's repeated in the future or on an On Demand service.
Other than that you're looking for an illegal way to get the programme but I can't help you there. :-P
Those are your options for the future anyway. :) Basically though - don't fall asleep if you've paid for something specially. ;)
I have a narcoleptic friend who was overjoyed at receiving a TEVO Box to make up for always falling asleep and missing bits. It's your best option really. :) She doesn't get a reduction in her TV Licence and, in her case, falling asleep really is not her fault.
Finally - if you do something silly don't shout at random strangers demanding that they owe you for something that is not their fault as it's not a good idea. You have to take responsibility for the things you waste hun and that's the truth. :-P

Binky: Sorry, but it is quite clear that the TV Licence is handed over to the BBC and the BBC uses it as shown in the annual accounts - downloads.bbc.co.uk link icon http://downloads.bbc.co.u….pdf .

I'm not really sure where your "flying through the air" thing is coming from, but it is plain wrong.

Ofcom's Licensing section - licensing.ofcom.org.uk link icon Ofcom | Ofcom Licensing - deal with the co-ordination of frequencies required for radiocommunications.

The BBC also pays some money - see www.ukfree.tv link icon TV tax on the TV tax | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - to pay for the Switchover Help Scheme, but this again is VIA the BBC.

When the old government suggested the BBC contribute £14m from the Licence Fee to "help Channel 4 with switchover costs" this was deemed illegal - see www.telegraph.co.uk link icon Government withdraws proposal to give Channel 4 state aid of £14m - Telegraph .

I don't know what capacity you can possibly have worked "worked in satellite communications regarding television so know this to be fact" and get so much wrong.

Sorry, but you should really get your information right before calling them "facts".

Anne: You can try using the Other Channels feature to scan the transponder at 12422 MHz, H polarization, Symbol Rate 27500, FEC 2/3. However, the channel is encrypted and it may be that it can only be decrypted by UK viewing cards.

I don't believe it's possible to watch 5* live online. Some programmes are available on the Demand 5 catch-up service at the Channel 5 website, though again this might not work outside the USA.

I Live in Warboys not far from Huntingdon recently the 5* channel has been very bad due to breaking signal and loss of picture, similarly 5 USA and other channels such as a couple of the selling channels, is there a problem with the Sandy Transmitter? I know I live in a small village but it is well within the broadcasting range of the Sandy transmitter.

Tonight we could not watch 5* 5USA QVC picture constantly breaking up

gerry brown: The multiplex you refer to (SDN) is on low power from Sandy until 9th May when it will change channel, necessitating a retune. All others are at high power.
