Freeview reception at CF83 2SS

Terrain between CF832SS and Freeview masts

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter.

The diagrams below show the transmitters you can get a signal from - in order from best to worst. The blue line tests the line-of-sight between an aerial 10 metres above ground level (the line is red if there is an obstruction in the line-of-sight). You may be able to improve reception by raising the aerial higher - for safety's sake consult a reputable aerial installer if you need rooftop access. See below the diagrams for advanced options including selecting the receiver aerial height.

The terrain information (from Ordnance Survey and GIS) does not include forestation (where leaf cover changes with the seasons) or city buildings. The line-of-sight line can appear curved as this straight line moves over the Earth's surface.

When you click on a diagram, you will see map with the location selected shown with this symbol: .Internet Explorer 9+, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari required.Internet Explorer 9+, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari required.

There is a problem with the Freeview Reception Map Full Details page. On selecting the full details on the reception map I get a list of muxes in ascending order with the shortcuts to change the order of the display. Problem is that all of the shortcuts take you back to the Mapping page. The properties of the shortcuts look OK to me and I get this with IE and Google browsers.

Hi, I have no trouble now getting pictures through the Humax box but can get nothing if I go through the TV.. There are no problems with the TV in another room...which does not have a Humax. The only thing that appears on screen when I try to access through the Samsung control is P1 or P2 etc. When I go to Ext 2 VCR No Signal appears!! Thanks for your advice.

Eve: The tuner in the Samsung should come up first automatically. Its only if you switch on the Humax will the TV then go to that source. So make sure there is an aerial lead coming from the back of the Humax (the out) into the back of the TV.

I dont know why your TV isn't picking up the Ext 2, but frankly, if you have HDMI imputs on both the box and the TV, you should be using HDMI - its a better (HD) picture and is a more reliable connection.
