Your website says no current problems reported with the Dawlish relay transmitter, but we and several other people in this area have constantly been phoning Digital UK, Freeview and BBC Reception in London, to report alsmost unwatchable BBC channels due to freezing and momentary sound loss.
At last today I have been told that the relay is transmitting BBC frequency on 'Low' but other frequencies are normal. Are they at last working on it, or has it been on 'Low' since the switchover? My BBC frequency is 62(-1). What does the (-1) mean? No-one can tell me.

Susan Hubbard: Can you please see www.ukfree.tv link icon Dawlish digital TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 for information.

The "C62-" means that the channel is broadcast in the C62 frequency slot, but moved down a very small amount. This is because after switchover C63 will be used for non-digital TV purposes, so the allocation on C62 is moved down slightly to prevent future interference.

All three multiplexes are broadcasting on the normal power as far as I can see...

I had an Amstrad DRX550 Sky box connected to the TV upstairs via the RF out2 port 9as well as the the TV in the lounge). The coax in from the outside aerial was always connected. (the RFout1 port was to the DVD recorder) I have now changed to an Amstrad DRX 280 Sky+ box with the same connections. However the upstairs TV does not receive the Sky signal! I tried doing an auto scan on the TV but it dosn't find the Sky signal. I have redone the connections back to the original Sky box & the TV receives it OK! Do I need to do something with the Sky+ box settings or something else??

Ian Forshaw: Find out the RF channel number your old box used, and then use this on the new one. Please see www.ukfree.tv link icon How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox? | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 for details.

Please help. Following a major power cut my Humax PVR lost all of my saved channels. When I've gone to re-save them it is not finding any of the channels on Mux A which I had before. I live in BS16 and belive I get my signal from Mendip. I've tried doing a manual search on C62 but it's not finding any channels and the signal strengh/quality is showing as just 65%/10%.

Is there anything I can do to get these channels back?

Many thanks

Are the HD channels on the PSB-3 Mux now running on Tacolneston ?

Until the switch on, I've been getting them via Freesat and a Fortec Star HD box.

I think most of my DVB-T kit doesn't have HD compatible tuners, but I thought I'd ask on here. My Sony Bravia "HD Ready" 40" TV has no mention of HD in it's tuning section in the manual, so am I right in suspecting that the tuner is SD only ? Would Sony have put an SD only tuner in an HD Ready TV ?

I'm pretty sure my old Sony PVR is not HD tuner compatible either, and also my PC twin tuner PCI card.

The one thing I am surprised about is the Avermedia DVB-T "HDTV" ready USB pen though. I thought that did have an HD tuner, but that also is missing all of the HD channels (50,51,52).

My aerial setup is pretty good, and ExtraGain on the chimney stack, which has given a strong signal even during the low power period.

So is the HD up and running please ?

(sorry for the long waffling post !).

Paul Douglas: HD Ready means that it is ready to show HD pictures but doesn't have a HD tuner built in.

Click the text HD ready to see an explanation of HD ready.

Thanks for the quick reply Dave.

I hadn't realised the significance of "ready", but that does make sense.

I'm still wondering about my inability to receive any HD signals on the Avermedia USB stick though. That is definitely supposed to have HD tuner capability.

I've been able to pick up BBCHD, BBC1HD, ITV1HD, and Ch4HD on my freesat box for many months now, and was hoping that the long awaited freeview boost for Tacolneston was going to enable HD via that at last.

Hi, i don't know if you could help us.

We recieved a Toshiba 32BV701B for christmas and are having problems getting a freeview signal.

When we plug in our ariel through our Freeview box we used with our previous TV, we can get a signal and find channels with no problem. However if we plug the ariel straight into our TV it cannot find a signal.

We have tried plugging the TV straight into our neighbours ariel and it found a signal straight away.

I hope you can explain whats happening as we are really confused!

Many thanks!

I live in didcot and use the oxford transmitter. I have a second television that is connected on the RF outlet from my sky box. It is tuned into channel 36 and has been working fine. However yesterday the picture on the analogue channel on the second TV has become snowy. I was wondering if something had changed on the local transmitter and I needed to retune to a different channel. If so, what channel would you recommend for this area?

Paul: Channel 36 should be silent and has been so for many years.

Unplug the lead from the aerial which goes into your Sky box. See if the level of interference reduces.
