I'm in Horsham and just gone over to digital but I'm not very technically minded so plain english would be good if anyone can help. My aerial is tuned to Midhurst but I cant get Film4 and Dave I have reset and still nothing I have tried manually tuning but not successful. My aerial engineer says my aerial is ok any other help would be appreciated.Sally Cooke: Can you please provide your postcode? It is impossible to say without it. Reading Sally Cooke: the Brighton (Whitehawk Hill) transmitter transmits ITV1 analogue on channel 60 at 10kW. It's probable that this is interfering.
In addition, the current digital transmitting aerials at Midhurst are only mounted on one side of the mast, pointing - I think - west. You are east of the mast. The signals have to go through the mast itself to get to you. That means that the digital signals are fairly weak anyway and easily trampled by analogue.
At switchover these problems will go away, as it's expected that the digital coverage area for main transmitters will be close to that for analogue.
Basically, there's nothing you can do for the next two years until switchover happens; until then, you'll just have to live with the multiplexes you can get. Or, consider Freesat; however, the channel list is not the same as Freeview. For example, Film 4 is available, but Dave is not.JasonFriday 31 December 2010 5:09PM
Bampton I have upgraded my Freeview ariel which was already a reasonable digital approved 14db gain, to a high gain 16.5 db gain CAI professional approved one, I get more channels and fantastic reception, but still no blinkin ITV, I get the ITV+1 test channel and ITV2 , 3, 4 etc, MY ariel is pointing to the staton st John mast which is approx 81 degrees east from my OX183qn post code, I've tried tuning it on 3 seperate flat screens withe the same result, Am I doing something so silly I've over looked a small technical item? ( I've tried it with no other devices inline etc to minimise interferance) I've double checked the alignment, it is in the loft which should'nt make to much differance considering the high gain ariel I've upgraded too, any pointers would be of great help. Although I dont use freeview as I have sky HD, its just a matter of principle that I cannot get ITV1 on freeview just incase my Sky goes T**s upJason: More or less what you would expect from a loft aerial. Before I retuned my Humax 9200 today, I was able to receive "Yesterday" on Ch 12, "Film 4" on Ch 15 but unable to receive "ITV3" at all.
Following today's retune, I am now able to receive C10 but not channels 12 & 15.
Any idea why this may be so?

CrisOC: The Midhurst mast has one set of antenna panels at the very top, then another cluster on one side just below the top. It's not entirely clear, but I believe the digital services come from that lower cluster rather than the main antenna at the top.

At switchover, digital services move from whatever arrangements they've been using to the main antenna(s). (At some sites separate antennas are provided for the PSB and commercial services, although they're usually just stacked one on top of the other.)
Also, digital power levels are usually increased. The new level is based on the current *analogue* power level and is usually one-fifth for the PSBs and one-fifth or one-tenth for the COMs, which gives roughly equivalent coverage, usually a little more. If levels aren't increased it was because the digital signals were already at this level.
Finally, services usually move to different channels, which have less interference than they did before switchover. The PSBs usually take over old analogue frequencies at main transmitters; at relays it may be necessary to change them to avoid clashing with a main transmitter, or to change from a non-standard grouping to a standard one.
Because of clashes with other transmitters that are yet to switch over, ArqB will remain at 1 kW until 25 April, after London switches over. Because the mode also changes at switchover, the coverage will probably decrease compared to Mux D, although this is a channel change as well.
Ofcom's documentation also says there could be restrictions on BBC A, D3&4 and ArqA 'if required', to half the published power, until 27 June. However, this doesn't appear on the postcode checker, so they may have decided that it isn't required, unlike the restriction on ArqB.
For you, Digital UK's trade view shows no prediction (< 50% of your grid square expected to get reliable results even half the time) for Mux C and D at present. The prediction goes up to 99% or 100% of locations at switchover, which is probably due to decreased interference more than changes at Midhurst. J FergussonMonday 16 April 2012 1:06PM
On what basis are channels Film 4 and Dave not available to viewers living in the KA23 post-code areas? We pay our taxes like everyone else..
(Home address KA23 9EH).J Fergusson: The channels that aren't available in your area (from your transmitter) are the Commercial ones which operate purely on a commercial basis.
They transmit from 80 of the largest sites (largest by viewer population) and this gives them 90% reach. To transmit from nearly 1,100 small relays would add about 8.5% of the population to their potential viewerbase but it will roughly double the amount they spend on transmission. They were asked if they wished to increase their coverage and declined. For a more in-depth explanation, see here:

Watford I am getting a perfect picture from Crystal Palace (my postcode is WD25 9FH). Am I likely to get interference from 4G in July 2013 (believed opening date for transmissions)? I cannot fit a filter between antenna and amplifier due to physical construction of aerial. Presumably I will be provided with a new aerial? Downham Market Im getting really frustrated now. After years of problems with the switchover i finally got everything sorted when i had a new ariel put up in November 2012. Now i'm losing stations and lost all HD stations 3 days ago. I'm told it's because of this 4G thing. I'm just looking for somewhere to help or somewhere to complain but all these websites are just a bunch of ramblings that make no sense unless your a super geek. All i want to know is, why have i lost stations? I was told to get a new ariel to get all stations, i paid for a new ariel and was getting all those stations, now all of a sudden i'm bak to square one and lost loads of stations.
