I too live in Whitley Bay, postcode NE25. The reception of Freeview is consistently poor. There are two groups of channels, The group which includes Sky News is unwatchable. The group which includes BBC often breaks up into pixels, clicks loudly and sometimes stalls.

Is there any likelihood of the signal improving ?

Pontop Pike transmitter will be upgraded - but not until October 2012, but if you are having problems with multiplexes C and 1 (or is it B?) then you may find that a larger aerial, a masthead booster, raising your aerial up another metre or replacing your cables will give you a stable signal.

Hi there! Suffering intense pain with a Digilogic box and hi gain horizontal aerial in TN14 6BY. Looks like I'm on the outer edge of crystal palace freeview and get BBC channels but nothing else. Occasionally Film 4 and some others drift in on a sunny stil morning, but i think once the leaves are in bloom i fear the signal will get worse. Will there be any more power coming out of Crystal Palace south of the downs into Kent at all? Thanks (map)

I have a question on signal strength. I live at IG1 4LQ and receive analogue (poor) and digital (some good) transmissions from Crystal Palace.

At first I was getting good pictures on all digital stations except for FIVE and the others on the same MUX. Now I notice that FIVE disappears completely for long periods and even ITV1 and ITV2 disappear as well.

Maybe this is logical since FIVE is on MUX A
and the ITV channels on MUX 2 both of which are said to be transmitting on low power at present. It is also said that all digital
transmissions will increase in power after analogue switch off. So finally the question:- if I always receive BBC1 & BBC2 at good signal strength now, am I likely to receive the weaker stations at at least the same strength as BBC1 etc. after analogue
switch off?

The existing rooftop aerial is a bit battered and seems to point too far south but this may be because of the large victorian school opposite so replacing it may not be the answer.

Incidentally ta to Jordy & Briantist for their advice on frequencies. (map)

Neil Bell - You're going to see a big improvement once the switch over comes and goes for two reasons the higher power on all muxes and improvement with channel allocations and frequencies down in that part of the world... CCI will finally be a thing of past...

Why can I not receive Classic FM on my DAB radio from the Durris transmitter?
I live in the AB51 0NP area.
If there is currently no transmission, is there a plan to eventually transmit Classic FM from Durris? (map)

On In Your Area | What's On | Get Digital Radio if you input your postcode it says you should be able to receive Classic FM on DAB. However the UKFREETV website is about TV broadcasting so I'm wondering whether you mean DVB and not DAB. On On air | Listen FAQs - Classic FM they say they don't plan to transmit on Freeview for cost reasons. (IG14LQ)

Help please! I can't receive Mux 2 in the Crystal Palace transmitter because of these inferior analogue signals. Can you help?

SkullKid: Not sure what "inferior analogue signals" would effect reception of Multiplex 2, but if you can't get it please see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV + switchover advice, since 2002 for help.
