Hi,I have Freeview via a BT Vision digibox, which has received ALL available channels with good reception since installation in August 2007.
During the previous two weeks, several channels have started to continually freeze / pixelate / breakup or fail to display a picture altogether. I have checked the
DTT Signal via the TV settings menu, and it appears that it is all TV channels using Carrier channel'746 Mhz' (inc UKTV History, Virgin 1, ITV2+1, Film 4), and tend to be worse at night.
Signal Strength = 21-26% (fluctuating)
Signal Quality = 25-35% (fluctuating).
All other Carrier channels (that are still working ok) show....
Signal Strength = 25-31% (stable)
Signal Quality = 100% (stable).
I have rescanned / re-loaded several times with no success, and no hardware / connectivity has been disturbed prior to the problem.
Have you any ideas please?
Thank you, Mike.

I know this sounds daft, but, Channel 4 on my t.v. seems to be digital! As all my other channels are 4:3 aspect, and when a film was shown on channel 4(forest gump on sat evening) and the adverts finished, the film restarted, and the image switched to widescreen!!??
I live in the scottish borders in the TD8 area Near Jedburgh.
Please help, I think i may be going loopy!!

Sally9022: Channel 4 is the only UK broadcaster to use a widescreen signal on the analogue transmissions. It is part of a defunct PAL+ standard, which some TVs (usually Sony) silently support. This is an analogue service.

I am receiving freeview in the central area, but I am receiveing local programmes from the Yorkshire region. I would like to know how I can receive news & programmes from the Central region please? Do I need to change the frequencies? If so, where can I find them? Also, I am on a communal aerial, would this need to be adjusted?

Thanks

Does anyone else in the Bournemouth area have freeview and normal terestrial reception problems?? I had all channels on Tuesday but nothing yesterday or today!
Briantist
Thursday 27 March 2008 6:30PM
Jon: Nothing is reported. Loss of all channels is usually a cable or connector failure.

Thanks for reply. I know 5 other people in the area with the same problem. We are all in the same boat. Cant pick up any BBC, ITV, C4 or C% using just the arial. And nothing at all using our freeview boxes. Who would I report it too as I think it must be the main transmitter at fault. Thanks

It seems to be widespread across the BH area. I reckon that its not been widely reported as you wouldnt know about the problem if you receive signal via a sky dish

Jon: A terrestrial transmitter problem certainly will not effect a satellite in geostationary orbit over the equator. There are a number of transmitter you may be using. Do you have analogue only or do you usually have Freeview as well? Thats right I have neither, the freeview box can be found on the normal tv channel. However when it searches it can find no channels at all. Its the same problem with my friends

Only recently I haven't been able to receive a signal from my bbc 1 or 2 channels it constantly jumps and gives a headache if you try and watch it. No problems with any other channels but its getting worse. I have an outside ariel fitted and digital in built in our tvs please can you tell me what is causing this weakness.
Briantist
Monday 7 April 2008 6:35AM
Trevor Bailet: Loss of all services will indcate that you have a failure - either the aerial has been damaged or a connector is disconnected or cable has a problem. Sometimes people find that a tree coming into leaf between the aerial and transmitter is the problem, but it is usually a poor connector, cable or a moved aerial.
Briantist
Monday 7 April 2008 6:37AM
rachel: There are no problems with the Redruth transmitter, so please see www.ukfree.tv link icon Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 for help.

my post code is BS9 4PQ,
Having recently obtained a TV receiver with built in freeview, I found that although BBC channels were OK, the ITV channels were breaking up.
I replaced the aerial with an 18 element wide band aerial and a loft amplifier which improved the situation but the picture still breaks up occasionally. My pocket scanner shows a hefty signal being received on the Kings Weston channels.
Looking at the terrestial analogue picture intermittent white dashes of interference appear particularly in the area of channels 40 - 50. As I live within shouting distance of Southmead police and Fire stations and Southmead hospital, could this be interference generated from Tetra transmissions. If so what can I do about it.
Briantist
Thursday 10 April 2008 5:59AM
Mike Austin: TETRA transmitters can be a problem... The booster will simply amplify this interference, so you need to use a rooftop aerial with a masthead amplifier. If you use an aerial with more elements, they are more directional and can help with TETRA type interference.

Any idea how to solve this?

Live in London N7 0HG, YAGI AERIAL POINTED AT CRYSTAL PALACE WITH SIGNAL BOOSTER.

DIGITAL (FREEVIEW BOX) HAVE POOR OR ABSENT SIGNAL ON MULTIPLEX 1 (BBC 1,2,3) AND ABSENT ON MULTIPLEX 2 (CH 4/ITV).

AERIAL CHANGED & ENGINEER LOOKED AT 3 TIMES IN TWO YEARS.

Michael Case: Is the aerial on the roof? If so, I would try removing the booster, you really shouldn't need one so close to the transmitter.

Any ideas whats gone wrong? I have a freeview box echostar T-101 which until I did an update channel search a couple of days ago worked absolutely fine with all available channels coming up ok and with their correct allocated channel numbers.
Now I find that the following channels have changed their Nos to:-
800 chl 4+1,801 E4,802 ITV3,805 ITV2,
807 CHL4,808 ITV4,809 MORE4,810 ITV1,
812 BBC1,813 BBC2,814 BBC3815 BBC NEWS,
816 BBCi,817 CBBC.
After trying several updates, they still remain the same.
My post code is dy2 9nf and my aerial is facing our local transmitter at Brierley Hill in the West Midlands.
Is it the box that is now not compatable?or is it an alteration from the transmitter causing the problem?
Any help much appreciated.

Please help!!! Just lost 60+ digital channels after 6 months great reception, from my Toshiba 40" TV. Still getting 29 digital channels but have lost ITV 1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Channel 4, channel 5 etc. It is difficult to understand when the reception has been so good for 6 months. The channels I receive are very clear and I had a new digital ariel fitted before having the new equipment set up. Why some and not others?
Please help.

Thanks for suggestion, tried poweroff/no aerial connection, power back on and did re-scan "came up no programmes found"
Re-inserted aerial and re-scanned again, came up exactly the same as before with incorrect programme Nos.
Any other suggestions/ideas appreciated.

Wednesday 25 June 2008 5:21AM
mick cartwright: The receiver should only allocate numbers in the higher range if there are already channels on the correct number. If the above procedure did not work to delete these channels, then you need to look in the menus for a "reset box to factory settings" and have another go at rescanning.

Good Afternoon

We live just outside of Faversham in Kent and since last week, we have no signal at all (you can hear the sound, but vision is horrible).(This is anolog) We have a Sony With build in Freeview, and tested with another television just to make sure it might not be the TV but no luck. There is no digital reception at all, We do have a booster and tested that to ensure that it might not have failed etc. But nothing at all. And currently at the point where it is just the singal. We have no idea what could have caused it, Any advise would be appriciated. Thank you very much

I live in the Galmpton Area Nr Brixham. Since the end of August 08 we are experiencing problems with a majority of our channels, the BBC channels seem ok at present, we've had no signal for ch5/fiver/five us, itv1,2,3, ch4, ch4+1, e4,e4+1, sky 3, etc - we briefly get the itv/ch4 channels for a very short time then it switches off again - and has been off the majority of the time and the anologue transmition is poor. We are coming up to 2 years at christmas in having the digital tv and dvd and havent experienced any problems with transmition until now. how long before we get any of these channels back. post code tq5 opq
