How can I get Channel 5 on Sky in Ireland?
You can watch Channel 5 (plus 5USA, 5* and the +1s) by manually adding the channel, as it is broadcast free-to-air.
Use the following settings:
Frequency: 10773 10964
Polarisation: Horizontal
Symbol rate (Mbaud): 22.0
FEC: 5/6

jillian tullis: TV3 *is* on satellite, but it's encrypted - you need a Sky Ireland subscription to decode. However, the Republic's public-service channels then appear at 101-105, with UTV not in the programme guide at all (it is free-to-air, so you could add it back with the Other Channels feature).
Check 
Coverage Map | SAORVIEW to see if you could receive TV3 from a terrestrial transmitter. If you want to receive channels from the Republic, it's recommended that you get a Freeview HD box as they are going over to HD-only transmission much more quickly than we are. I have a free to air box as well as the usual sky box here in Ireland. I have Channel 5 tuned in under the "Other Channels" on the sky box. However, I am unable to do it on the free to air box. I'm also in NI and can't get TV3 which I'm really annoyed at, I programmed it in on the 'add channel' bit and it gives me what is currently on the channel but no picture. Do you think Sky will ever broadcast it in NI? I had it through Sky in the Republic and just assumed in NI I could get at least the main Republic channels. RTE1 & 2 are ok, TG4 is a pain in the neck and the only decent Republic channel is TV3.
I noticed someone mentioned Freeview - can I get Republic channels through this and if so is TV3 definitely included?Jennifer: TV3 is encrypted and is only provided to Sky customers in the RoI, it can't be got by using "add channels".

Used to be able to get BBC News on Other Channels on my Sky Digibox in Rep. of Ireland but now told when tuning-in that there is a technical fault and try again later. In Ireland you can now get five five usa, five* and the +1. This is only the last few days.
You need to manually tune it in.

Hi, I am from Ireland and have "sky plus" and I was able to get Channel 5 by following your instructions previously but only noticed today that there is a technical fault and when I try and programme it in again it only has the BBC list of channels and channel 5 has gone.
