Do the people at Eurosport read this forum? I hope so. I like many would love to se them move over to freeview and I also think they would benefit from the move due to them ,potentially, being the only major sport channel on freeview..what a coup!

I live in Switzerland and have a Topfield HD satellite receiver connected to a 90cm dish. I am tuned to Astra 2 and Eurobird 1. I get all BBC/ITV channels including BBC HD. I can add satellites and want to know whether i can add FreeSat to my receiver, i believe it transmits from Astra 2d. If i do receive Freesat will i be able to get ITV HD OR do i need a specific FreeSat Receiver. Thanks Al.

I have a friend in kandersteg that want's me to fit freesat. according to astra's diagrams they will need a very large dish to pick up the BBC channels.
are you in the same region as kandersteg?

There seems to be no BBC south or ITV Meridian on Freesat HD. Is this an upgrade that is coming?

Don: Yes, this should be sorted very, very soon. From what I understand, as long as you have entered your correct postcode you should get the correct ITV1 and BBC one variant automatically.

Don: The Astra 2D satelite is designed for UK domestic reception primarily. You do need a large dish outside the main area!
Briantist
Tuesday 24 June 2008 5:07AM
Alan Witts: Freesat is not something you can 'receive' on any receiver. The channels are free-to-air already! Freesat boxes have MHEG-5 capabilities and this provides interactive and text services, a seven-day programme guide. At the moment ITV-HD is accessed through the red button, provided by said MHEG-5. If I wanted, hypothetically, to get freesat from Spain, what size dish would I need, type of LNB? and other technical data? Let's assume I would already posses a freesat decoder.......

Michael, Interestingly I had a call from a sky representative last night, offering me a deal on free sky + box and a tv mix etc for 17 quid. He then aked me why I had stopped my subscriptions. He was taken aback at how informed I was on ALL deals every company was offering. He then told me I could use my sky box for free viewing. I then laid into him about how was it right that murdoch could charge me to get a card which would enable me to watch dave etc while in reality these channels were free on freeview? he could not answer me, but agreed with me..

well it was not the usual call brian, this one was like market research, asking me what it would take to get me back on board.
Don't be surprised if murdoch comes up with a lot of cover all options in the future.

I think Eurosport should go free on Freeview once space becomes available after switchover channel 15 on Freeview is still spare after abc went I though Virgin would use it to go 24 hours on Freeview but no news still so their is limited space legal of course another sugestion would be to launch a highlight free to air channel but KEEP LIVE ON SUBSCRIPTION GOOD IDEA EH Do you know eurosport address I ve put that idea to Setanta not holding out much hope eh ch4 and five should launch a free to air sports channel team up with someone eh

There are some BE programmes on Top Up TV Anytime, however.

Quote British Eurosport is part of the Sky "Family Pack" (£18.50 per month), the ntl: "Base Pack" (£18 per month) and Telewest "Essential Package" (£18.50 a month)

Call that competition?

They are all charging about the same price?

What does Virgin Charge?
Briantist

Michael: They are a little out of date, they charge more now!

I live in Northern Italy and access Astra2 via sat dish/free to air receiver (Strong). When installed, I was able to enjoy the free-to-air English channels with fairly good quality of audio and visual--but, a few months ago ITV3 began to be poorly received. Scrambling parts of the visual and audio "chatter". In normal weather, the other Brit. channels are fine. Only ITV3 is impossible to watch--and it is of course, my favorite. Surveying friends with Astra2, no one else has this problem.Any suggestions?

Why is Eurosport (German) FREE DIGITAL at 19.2e not listed in the answer to this question? OK, it needs you to move your dish, but it's pretty easy to DIY.

If these prices are the same then it means the Competition Commission are also a failure.

What actually happened to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission?

My Poem

Read the paper "Page one"
Digital Britain "Not on"
Analogue TV "So Long"
End of an era "Same old song"

Free TV "Fairwell"
People being ripped off "Same old hell"
Rupert Murdoch "He looks Well"
whilst BskyB "Subscriptions Swell"

BskyB have no regret!
The uk people are now in debt!
Their board room targets have been set!
Profit comes first and must be met!

OFCOM won't investigate!
This is why were in this state!
This Scandal looks like Water Gate!

RBS Is in a mess
Putting savers through such stress

The Government shows some intention
To take away Fred Goowin's pention

Whilst people now are all in Debt.
Sir Fred shows signs of no regret.

His love of money is like lust.
That fades when he has turned to dust.

We have a Panasonic combined DVD recorder /freeview tuner (DMR-ES20DEB), connected via SCART to an old Panasonic TV. We're on the Sandy Heath transmitter, over the last days the digital channels' colour is terrible, dark with no colour blending (just blue, red or green). DVDs and analogue quality is fine, and we've rescanned the channels - strength is high. Any idea what the problem is?
