What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'?
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.

- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.

- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.
- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu".
- Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:
- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message – this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.

- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

hello i have done your list as above and still am having no joy! it just says 'no signal' or 'turn box off at mains.....wait 5mins.....if still not working call....' I also have no sky card but was recieving the free channels up untill now! Does this just mean the box has had it and im best off with a free sat box??Esther Ashman: It could be the dish, or the cable too. But if it is the box, then yes, you can just swap it out for a Freesat or Freesat HD box. Esther AshmanThursday 25 November 2010 9:18PM
Eastbourne my cable is new only bought it a months ago and i dont have a dish i have it connected to the new freeview arieal that the council fitted but it has been working for about a month when i got the box but the boxs is second hand?? Esther AshmanThursday 25 November 2010 10:18PM
Eastbourne i have a sky box whick i connected to my new arieal the council put up there is no dish on it. sorryEsther AshmanThursday 25 November 2010 10:20PM
Eastbourne oh and i was picking up the freeview channels through the sky box.Esther Ashman: You can only do that if the connection is to a satellite dish. Esther AshmanThursday 25 November 2010 10:28PM
Eastbourne huh well it must be satellite as i have been using it to watch the free sky channels for the past month its just all of a sudden it says no signal found. (i live in a block of flats so i cant see wats on the roof) and yes its says sat 1 on the box where u plug in the cable.Esther Ashman: Right, in that case I would first verify that the communal system is working OK.
If it is, then a Freesat/Freesat HD box would be the cheapest option. Esther AshmanThursday 25 November 2010 10:46PM
Eastbourne ok thanks PhilMonday 29 November 2010 10:59AM
Hi there I have sky plus in living room all works fine I have standard sky in the bedroom and the box just keeps saying no signal tried step three and no joy any helpPhil: I would check your cables and connectors (with the power off, of course). gordonWednesday 1 December 2010 7:32AM
why is it that on my sky box that i use for freeview now some of my channels wont work like ch5 but bbc1,2,etc are working.
gordon: Do (3) above please. gordonWednesday 1 December 2010 7:45AM
hi dont understand what you mean by 3 abovegordon: "Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software". gordonWednesday 1 December 2010 9:01AM
hi tried reset method 3 and about 2 minutes into it updating system software the sky box cuts off what do you suggest next ,i still get channels bbc 1,2 etc but channel 5 says no signal being receivedgordon: You can do one of three things:
1) Spend £25 on a new card, phone Sky on 08442 411 602 and select option 2.
2) Change your box for a Freesat one, where you won't ever have to pay again;
3) Add Channel 5 in via "Add channels" and access it via "More channels".
The free-to-air Channel 5 is on 10.773MHz Horizontal 22000, FEC 5/6.

Hello Briantist
I live in Benidorm and would be interested in purchasing a Freesat box when I next visit the UK at Christmas.
I note your installation article and read that the box asks for a post code which it checks the system against?
Obviously I have no UK post code in Spain. Can you please tell me if the Freesat box would work here.
Regards

Hi my sky plus box is telling my i have no signal being received, i already tried all of the above earlier apart from the system reboot as i dont think this will help...i called sky they said it maybe because of the weather so.....i got a broom tied a hairdryer round it & well you get the picture....needless to say this did not work tho maybe i should have mention to the bloke that 1 of the dish cables at the back of the box had come off....i squeezed it back in but now im thinking that this maybe the problem....if it is how can i fix this...myself or how do i know it is that??John: Yes, you just put in the postcode to select the BBC and ITV regions you get. Marlies: You don't have snow on your dish do you? LutonFanWednesday 1 December 2010 10:29PM
Marlies- Disconnect the Sky-box from the mains(very important). Unscrew the loose F connecter and rewire it. Please ensure the outer wires do not contact the inner core.
Reconnect and screw the F connector back into the box. If you are unsure of this, please seek professional help.LyssThursday 2 December 2010 10:36AM
I sold my old sky box which was working fine, the girl that bought it off me says that it won't work for her. Should I ask her to follow some of the suggestions you've mentioned here? Does she need to sync her card with the box? Many thanks!Lyss: Yes. The best thing to do is it get it working without a card first. masroorThursday 2 December 2010 3:21PM

wow have just removed my sky card and its has a scorch mark on the other side of the gold strip.Ive only had it for 5 months will this cause me the problem of loss of signal
John in Benidorm:
The postrcode ona Freesat box determines which BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 regions you get on 101, 102, 103, 104.
There is not one good UK postcode that will put the best / strongest frequencies on these. For example BBC1 Channel Islands is weak, ITV1 Channel Islands is strong. YOu will be lucky to get Five at all - perhaps a couple of hours a day (same reception as BBC2 England)
Not that you cannot use a sky card on the FReesat boxes, so you wil not be able to receive the strong ITVs1 on 11973, or Five, Fiver, Five USA. InderFriday 3 December 2010 9:47AM
i have a skybox and my cable who was connected to dish disconnected how can i connect cable from sky box to dish?
Inder: Well, you just sort-of-reconnect it.
Make sure the power is off, make sure that the screw connector is on the cable.
The ensure that the outer metal screening part of the cable makes good contact with the screw connector, and nothing else.
Poke the cable in the socket on the receiver so the central metal part of the cable makes contact, then screw on the outer part.
Ensure that there are no stray parts of the screening parts touching the central part.
Power on. InderFriday 3 December 2010 10:12AM
Gravesend is it possible if anybody else can sort thisout and i will pay them . i am living in da119ng post codeInder: I am sure there are plenty of companies that will charge you a whole hour of call out charges for what takes 30 seconds to do. InderFriday 3 December 2010 10:20AM
Can you send me any contact details near post code da119ng to sort this outInder: Phone book? Google? gordonFriday 3 December 2010 8:35PM

Newcastle Upon Tyne I always have "Searching for listings" or no signal......
Have tried the 3 reset methods to no avail.
My Sky+ box is only 2 years old so a bit annoying.....
Looks to me like a power supply fault???
What do you think?Mark: If the box is on, it is not very likely to be a "power supply fault".
In the current conditions, I would check for snow on your satellite dish. Mr.Khawaja: You need a quad-LNB fitted to your dish (with four outputs) and another satellite-grade cable run in to where you want to fit another Sky or Freesat box. jakeTuesday 7 December 2010 4:50PM

Dudley hi, i have followed all 3 sets of instructions but still have no signal through my sky+ box OR my freesat box. i live on the 11th floor of a block of flats and seem to be the only person with this issue. i can get terestrial tv but that´s it, just channels 1 - 5. my freeview in the other room running on an indipendant aerial is fine. i have checked all my cables, connectors etc but cannot check the dish as it is shared and on the roof of the 15 floor building. do you have any clues, it was all fine until about 10 days ago. thanks.
