How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox?
Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Then press [4] to go to the RF output menu.
You can now change the value so that it does not clash with an analogue TV channel or a Freeview multiplex.
HD and "new EPG" boxes
If you have a HD box, press [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]. Nothing is shown on the TV screen until you press the Select button.
Then use the [RIGHT] arrow button on the remote until this screen is shown, and press SELECT to change the values:

jas: I take it that you are trying to change the channel on these second sets using the actual Sky boxes remote control that came with it, and not the TV's?
However, if it is the Sky remote you are using try the magic eye connected straight into the Sky box, temporarily placing something over the Sky boxes infra red pick up window so that "it" (the window) doesn't pick up directly from the remote.
Leave the magic eye "outlet" without anything connected to it for this test, but if the magic eye is found to work then try another test when the multi outlet box feed is connected to it, this to make sure that the red light still stays on.
jasSunday 23 October 2011 12:13PM
brain yes followed those instructions that was the first protocol
i have checked the magic eye on all of them they all have the red led to indicate the signal is presen. i have then plugged them into the secondary tvs and get the image but again no control
pretty fuming as rang sky twice and both advisors had no answer. 1 said to get a replacement remote which they will charge 25.99 for. even though we are paying £70 a monthjas: Does the remote control work directly with the Sky box? jasMonday 24 October 2011 11:11AM
yes it works directly with the sky box
intresting enough we have 2 brands of magic eye, the 2 tvlink ones didnt work but the other magic eye does. the picture however is very poor when plugged through the magic eye, when connected without it its somewhat better
so the problem has been the magic eye itself.
next step, any idea on the best one to get?Phil HudsonMonday 24 October 2011 1:16PM
Phil Hudson: I tried the digi sender on a dvd player without any success. Phil Hudson: This would suggest that the video sender is not working. jas: the obvious next step is to plug the magic eye direcly into the Sky box and see if the remote operates then (making sure it isn't pointing at the front of the box too). lesleySunday 30 October 2011 2:31PM
we currently have sky, with a dish that has 4-connections, 2 used by sky, and 2 spare, i have tried to connect one of the spare connections to a freesat box but it says that there is no signal, is it because i have combined original aerial connections to join the aerial cables (still using the new connections for the dish and the freesat box), or is there a problem at the dish end, or perhaps i havent connected the new connectors correctly any ideasjb38Sunday 30 October 2011 5:18PM
lesley: It would have been better if you had tried each spare in turn, as its very unlikely that both outputs would be defective as they are completely individual to each other.
The point is that the lead from the dish LNB should not be coupled into anything, but go straight from the dish to the Freesat boxes aerial input.

I have a shiny new tv with built in HD freeview but I don't have an external arial to utilise it with.
I do have an out of contract sky box that I use to currently receive channels. Is it possible to change the connection on my Sky box and plug it straight into the arial socket on the tv to use the freeview?
Hope that makes sense!!jb38Monday 31 October 2011 7:14AM
Madman: No! as you are dealing with two technically different operating systems with no real link between them.

Hi. I have a magic eye in the bedroom but my tv will not find the rf outlet channel. We have tried changing the rf outlet channel and it still will not find it. We hs e scanned many times. The rf outlet is on and the red light on the magic eye is on. The problem is the tv in the bedroom will not find th rf outlet channel. Thanks in advance for any help. Ian CraigFriday 4 November 2011 11:47PM
I'm trying to get a signal to second tv in bedroom from a Sky+ HD box. I've connected a coax cable from the RF2 outlet on the back of the sky+ HD box and plugged the other end into the bedroom TV (RF/coax antenna). Bedroom TV gives a message "no signal" when I try to tune it. I've been into the installer/engineer menu in the Sky+HD box (the output chnnael is set to 68 and the power is on). Is there anything else that needs "switched on"? Is the RF2 outlet always "live"? Or could it simply be a dodgy coax cable - the run is approx ten metres and I fittde the plugs? The TV is working fine via alternative aerial input? Steve PSaturday 5 November 2011 12:15AM
Ian - did you see Brian's post before yours?
Are you sure your remote TV is set to ANALOGUE 68 ?
And that there is no conflicting 68 where you are?IanSaturday 5 November 2011 7:24PM
Hi Brian,
Thanks for your post. TV is set to analogue and I have tried manual and autotuning on analogue settings. There is no conflict with Ch68 and I have also altered the analogue output channel on the Sky box to no avail. I have also re-terminated the co-ax plugs on both ends of the cable run. TV still says no signal. I think the Sky box must be duff? Anyone agree?Ian: Have you tried the RF1 output? pollyTuesday 8 November 2011 11:11PM
Hi,
We are living in Ireland, have sky + box(we do not use the phone line) & Eircom broadband. When the wireless broadband and the sky box are on the wireless does not work but when I switch off the sky the wireless works fine. Have changed the frequency on the broadband to no avail.I see that I can change the frequency on the sky box but dont want to make too many changes. Any other sugestions???
Thank you
Pollypolly: Is the wireless up particularly near the Sky box? PollyWednesday 9 November 2011 10:36PM
Hello Brian,
Thanks for the reply, the wireless is not up when the sky box is on, we tried in the opposite end of the house by moving the modem and if my memory serves me correctly it worked ok.
Do you have an idea of what the issue is?
Thanks
PollyPolly: It is not really advisable to put a wireless router device near another source of RF, even if the frequency used are totally different. PollyThursday 10 November 2011 8:40PM
Than you Brian,
do you know what the recommended distance required between?

HI, some great comments on here! i have HDsky box in the living room and two other sets in the house, all tvs have built in co ax currently feeding digital TV. can the co ax carry SKY and digital to all TVs?Polly: I would say "as far as possible", but a least a few meters will probably be enough. stephanSaturday 12 November 2011 5:13PM
hi i have a magic eye set up in the bedroom tv running from the rf2 outlet on my sky+ box and there is no light on the eye box. what am i doing wrongjb38Saturday 12 November 2011 7:11PM
stephan: The first obvious question would be "if" on the box you have went into the engineers menu and selected "power on" for that output.
This done by pressing "Services" then "4 - 0 - 1 - select" in a smooth sequence, or if a later box "Services" then 0 - 0 - 1 - select", the smooth sequence easier achieved if NOT looking at the screen whilst doing so.
If though you have already done that, then it can indicate a short circuit somewhere on the coax line, check the plugs in case a strand of wire from the screen is bridging onto the inner connection. Just have a check though that the TV being used is compatible for use with a magic eye, as some aren't, this done by observing if the eye lights up when you remove the TV's aerial plug.

South Shields I have just bought a samsung full HD tv with built in Hd freeview. I also have a sky + box which I have connected by scart to the tv but I cannot receive any HD freeview channels. Have tried manually tuning to no avail. There is no signal at all whilst searching. Please can you help?Mandy: Have you managed to tune in the other Freeview channels? Are you using a rooftop aerial?
When manually tuning the HD channels, it is C63. Mandy: Assuming you're using a rooftop aerial, then disconnect all other items from the TV. If the aerial goes into the Sky box and then out, for example, to another box and then out of that into the TV then do the following: Connect the TV's aerial connection straight to the incoming aerial lead so it doesn't go via the Sky box and anything else you may have under your TV. Then try tuning the TV. neville HSunday 13 November 2011 9:33PM
hi, we have an old pacific tv in the bedroom, have just swapped an HD+ box[daughters] for a HD only, as there is no `other` ariel outlet on the hd box[worked ok on the hd+] is there a way to connect the new HD box to the pacific tv, thanks neville H: You would normally use the SCART connection, if there is no HDMI on the TV. neville HTuesday 15 November 2011 7:37PM
neville H: hi briantist, thanks for your reply, think the scart idea is out as the tv is in the room above and, apparently over the distance the signal claritywould be drasticaly reduced, apart from having a whopping black cable running up the lounge/bedroom wall, i have however dug out and old sky box, and as we have a spare cable running from an updated dish i will utilise that and just have terrestrial channels on the old pacific tv for the time being, thanks againheygizmo66Saturday 19 November 2011 12:58PM
Hello, I hope someone can help and apologise if this has been asked before.
I have a sky HD box with a magic eye through to my TV bedroom and was working fine. This was until I recently plugged in a cable between RF1 out and the tv which sky is plugged into as I wanted to also use the freeview on this tv when there is multi recordings on sky.
If I take the cable out of RF1 the magic eye starts working again. I can still see the picture when both are plugged in but cant use the remote.
Any ideas?MichaelThursday 24 November 2011 12:28PM
I have two old analogue tv's in the house both of which are fed through the sky box. I have now lost all channels on these except sky, I was under the impression these would still be ok after the digital switchover, I have tried re-tuning without success. Do i have to buy two freeview boxes to get these working again?
I live in the Talcolneston area & lost the channels on Wednesday.JimFriday 25 November 2011 3:44PM
I have a TV link problem which so far I can't resolve. I have a 4 magic eyes in the house and a couple of weeks ago my Sky box stopped receiving a signal after a power cut. The magic eyes did not work to bring up menus either but I could do so using the remote direct to the box. I bought a reconditioned box and TV is OK but still no magic eye use. Have checked all the eyes and they all light up. Checked the RF output and that is on. Put each eye in the back of the box and none of them work, so it isn't the cabling.
What else could it be?Jim: When you connect the Magic Eyes directly to the Sky box, are you plugging them into RF Out 2 (rather than RF Out 1 or Aerial In) ?
When you connect the Magic Eye directly to the box, don't connect the cable that serves other rooms and try it. Richard HallMonday 28 November 2011 9:27PM
Hi I have just had my dads phillips 42" tv. He had a great picture at his house, buy not so good at mine. I have changed the Scart lead for a very expensive one buy still no good. We both have sky+ set up. I have changed the set up to pal and changed the RGB output to 30 from 68. The picture is pixalated a bit
Any ideas anyone?AnneTuesday 29 November 2011 12:06PM
We had a perfect sky picture transmitted through RF channel 68 to all the other tv sets in our house, but since the digital switch over the picture quality has become terrible. We have tried changing the RF output channel from the sky HD box to nearly all of them, but there is no improvement at all! Obviously we havent touch any wires or anything else since the picture was perfect... any ideas please?jb38Tuesday 29 November 2011 1:30PM
Anne: If you are using a normal aerial into the Sky boxes "aerial in" socket to feed Freeview signals through to other TV's in the house then try removing it and see what happens, because if this clears the problem then its almost certain that the signals coming down from the aerial are clashing with the Sky boxes RF output.
It should also be appreciated, that as there are so many high powered digital stations transmitting its sometimes quite a lengthy exercise to find a channel that doesn't clash, advice could have been given with knowledge of your post code.

Hello. problem is red eye in bedroom tv. was working fine till i put in sons wii. since then cant find sky channel or no idea how to manually tune it in as an engineer did it 1st time. tuning aint as easy as it used to be with these complicated modern tvs.all i know is i had it on ch.10 now i cant get ch.10. if anyone knows of the exact frequency settings to tune this in could you tell me please, or do i have to just press a certain channel number allocated by the rf outlet thing on services menu? thankyoujoe colquhounWednesday 30 November 2011 5:59PM
I have run to 2 magic eyes in my bedrooms.one one I have picture but no sound,on other I have no signal sign.both eyes are receiving signal.any ideas?jb38Wednesday 30 November 2011 9:03PM
harry: I don't fully understand where the wii comes into it, but if you have upset the channel used to receive the signal from the Sky boxes RF outlet then make sure the TV being used to receive it is set on analogue, (not DVB) and then carry out a retune, this will recover the Sky boxes signal whatever you may have set the Sky boxes RF output channel to.

London Dave,
thank you - the problem righted itself but has now returned again ! i tried the test as recommended in your link ( see posting dated 24 November 11.50am and channels are still missing (nothing before Channel 9 - BBC4 i.e. multiplexes 1,2 and A are missing) the link suggests that the problem may be solved by "you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar" How do I know which one - it will be expensive to cover all of these options !
Incidentally, a new aerial and cable was fitted last year - why has it suddenly become inadequate ?
many thanks againjb38Friday 2 December 2011 12:22PM
Colin: Unable to find the previous posting you mention, however I did notice on another posting of yours that you say the signal is fine according to the BBC test, but its really a case of what you see indicated (strength / quality) if you carry out a signal check on your TV, this usually accessible via the tuning menu section.
You should do this whilst you are receiving OK and then once again when its not, as even although there is no picture you will still see indications of level etc on the checker menu, maybe you could try this and give an update on the results of both tests.

Dartford I am hoping you will be able to help. I have set up the magic eye by inserting the coaxial lead into RF out, i have turned the RF on by the sky box on freequancy 68. I have also inserted the other end into the magic eye and then inserted the magic eye into the back of the new TV. I am able to change channel on the sky original TV throught the sky box, but receive no sound or picture on the new TV. Are you able to give me any advice of how to make this happen? The new TV had also been retuned for diginal and analogue chanels. Thanks in advance. jb38Friday 2 December 2011 3:42PM
John: If you can change the channel on the Sky box via the magic eye next to the new TV then that's inclined to indicate all is OK up to that point, what you should now do is to make sure that the new TV is actually set to its "analogue" tuning menu, (not DVB) and then carry out an auto-tune on this and let it find the Sky boxes analogue RF output.

why cant I get the to the rf output through services when I get to services press 4 and try and press 0 nothing happens any suggestions pleaseJohn O'ConnorFriday 16 December 2011 11:31PM
Hi everyone,
I have connected the RF2 outlet on my Sky HD box to a second tv in the bedroom. Picture and sound is coming in perfect. I can change the channel downstairs and it changes upstairs.
My problem is that i have tried to connect a Digilink to the coxial cable on the upstairs tv to allow me to use the remote upstairs.
The Digilink connector is supposed to take power from the RF2 outlet but the led is not lit on the digilink. When i place the diglink directly into the RF2 outlet as outlined in the trouble shooting in the instructions, its lights up.
The instructions are telling me there must be a problem with my coxial cable or connectors.
I assume that if the picture and sound is coming in fine that my cables and connectors are good--is this right??? The cable lengthn as about 12 metres.
Any suggestions (or criticisms) welcome.
Thnaks for any help!
