Am I still getting the same analogue quality when I connect through the STB?

Am I still getting the same analogue quality when I connect thr

For most people the quality of Freeview pictures are better than those on analogue, because with the digital service you either get it in full-quality or not at all.

Many people have put up with lower-quality analogue pictures and will see an improvement with Freeview.

Some people however, with the most expensive aerials and are close to the transmitter will receive a better quality of picture with analogue.

Passing the signals though your Freeview box should not noticeably degrade the analogue picture.

The picture quality from all the Freeview transmitters is the same.

My mother has just purchased a new TV with integral Freeview ready for digital changeover in August. The engineer from Currys tuned in the TV but the reception is very poor compared with her previous TV. We chose this LG TV because of the brilliant picture quality though of course in the shop it was enhanced because it was HD. Could the poor picture quality problem be resolved when her signal changes from analogue to digital?

Ann Tait: Yes, everyone receives a perfect picture and sound with digital reception.

ann tait, are you refering to a digital picture or an analogue picture? digital will be of high quality but suffer from break up or squares!! if its analogue (which i think it is) the larger flat screens will give less quality picture tho only slightly ! im guessing that the tv has been set up on autotune and you are receiving pictures from more than one transmitter. due to strengths of signal the tv may store the wrong picture on ,say, bbc1 but there may be a better bbc1 on ,say, channel 9? i would go thro all the stored channels to see if your stations are repeated and better pictures are on higher channel numbers?

Ian - thanks for your very helpful reply. I am indeed referring to an analogue picture and so will try what you suggest.
