Why are they so coy about the internet dependency and minimum requirements of YouView? No go, no joy for not a few on less than 3mb/s! Goverment and industry are evidently lalling. Let us first have reliable high-speed internet in 95% of the country, then we can revel in new-age televisual delights!

Brian, could you provide a succint technical overview of YouView?

If any of it's made by Amstrad it wont work for very long.

I would like to know how many hours of TV one can watch within a 40Gb per month download limit where about 8Gb is being used elsewhere, say a fifth in HD and four fifths in standard definition? If it's more than about 15 hours of TV, I think this technology is definitely for me.

Already there are certain channels that one can receive via the Internet through a Freeview HD box. Has anyone bothered trying these channels? Are they worthwhile? What sort of programmes do they show?

I have the Humax HDR-FOX T2/1TB which is a fantastic machine, 1tb hard drive and only £279 with TV Portal, the TV Portal links to YouView, I have to say very happy so far although BBC Iplayer sometimes goes out of sync, the picture to the sound and at the begining i did have an internet radio option that seems to have been removed and replaced with teletext holidays...why...please change back.
