It's worth noting that a TLCS only allows broadcast on satellite and cable, it doesn't permit terrestrial transmission. For that, you need a Digital Television Programme Service licence. ITV plc don't yet have DTPS licences for those new services.

In the consultation for renewal of Mux C and D, Sky commented on this difference, and the fact that the multiplex licence requires Ofcom to review proposed changes in the channel line-up. Sky services are specifically mentioned in the Mux C licence and the Mux B, C and D licences specifically call out Sky and Sky-controlled companies (defined as a 'Relevant Person'), with no Sky services permitted on B or D and only three on C. Further, no more than 75% of C's capacity can be granted to Sky.

However, the review provision is actually just a literal copy of a section of the Broadcasting Act 1996. Likewise, the distinction between TLCS and DTPS is laid down in the same law. Ofcom cannot just decide not to enforce these conditions! (On the other hand, Ofcom failed to require a new technical plan adding more relay transmitters.)

I note the BBC are still yet to apply to renew the Mux B licence. Perhaps they're hoping that if it gets too close to expiry, government will step in and add it to the Royal Charter like Mux 1 (free) rather than pay to renew (£25k renewal fee, plus Administered Incentive Pricing from 2014).

Incidentally, have you seen that Ofcom are reportedly going to delay the 600 MHz auction: www.broadbandtvnews.com link icon Ofcom postpones 600 MHz auction .

Any idea when ITV Anglia + 1 is coming to Freesat. As I still get the ITV + 1 South East. Thanks. Alan

ALAN PEACHEY: It's up and running on Astra 1N on 10832MHz H 22000 5/6 if you want to do a manual add, I am sure that Freesat will use it in your EPG very soon.

I've got two receivers connected to the same aerial.

One is picking up ITV1+1 Tyne Tees as it's showing North east Tonight an hour later than ITV1.

The Other is picking up ITV1+1 Yorkshire as its showing Calendar News.

lgb2100: This tells us that one is tuned to one transmitter and the other is tuned to the other.

As a guess, you have Emley Moor and Bilsdale which give Yorkshire and Tyne Tees respectively. As you haven't given your location or direction of the aerial which is common to both (or indeed which transmitter it is facing), then there isn't really much else I can say.

Both receivers are connected to the same aerial !, pointing towards Pontop Pike.

I receive ITV1 Tynetees on both receivers, but according to the EPGs the Panasonic receiver is receiving ITV1+1 tyne tees (checked with North east tonight @7pm) .
EPG on the Tompson TUTV receiver showed Calander news, altough have not checked to see if is was this programme being received or North east tonight.

Its just recently that I noticed the EPG on the Panasonic was showing North east Tonight on ITV1+1 @7pm so switch over to have a check.

lgb2100: I wouldn't have thought that you could pick up Emley Moor in South Shields!

Perhaps it is or was a mistake on the EPG.
