DAB retune on 1st March 2012 for Capital, Heart, Choice, XFM, LBC and Kiss
Due to technical reconfiguration of the digital radio services, on 1st March you may have to do a "retune" on your DAB receiver to continue listing to your local Capital, Heart, Choice, XFM, LBC and Kiss stations.
Most digital radios can be re-tuned by pressing the Auto-Tune or Auto Scan button on your digital radio. It may take a couple of minutes for your radio to update the station list.
However, not all digital radios re-tune in the same way. The instructions below cover some other options.
OPTION 1
Press the Auto Tune or Auto Scan button on your digital radio
The display screen will show 'Autotune Quick scan' / 'Fast Scanning'
As new stations are found the station counter on the right hand side of the display will increase and new stations will be added to the list
This should only take a couple of minutes
Scroll through the display to find the stations available to you
OPTION 2
Press Menu button on your digital radio
Rotate the Tune button until you see 'Autotune' in the display
Select 'Autotune'
As new stations are found the station counter on the right hand side of the display will increase and new stations will be added to the list
This should only take a couple of minutes
Scroll through the display to find the stations available to you
I have a Visual Innovations small TV which comes from the Midhurstreceiver and I cannot retune this. Can you please help. I bought it from Richer Sounds less than two years ago, and as they have discontiued this line cannot help me.
The DAB retune event is to enable the service following for car radios.
It's been done before for individual stations, but never on this scale.
In a nutshell, each and every DAB service has something called a SId (Service Identifier). These are being changed. If Arqiva, the transmission provider, just changed the SIds in one go then the old SIds would fall silent and listeners would be left with two services with the same name, one working and one not.
But what is actually happening is that there is a period of services running with dual SIds which means when the old one is turned off listeners will have a meaningless label in their service list, and one good label in their list.
This was something I kicked off a few years ago to mitigate against listener confusion and I have to say works very well in doing so. Digital Radio UK's advice to retune radios is a bit draconian as most won't need to be retuned. Many DAB radios just take note of whatever is on a multiplex regardless of what station is listened to, and some will scan for new stations when in standby periodically.
I have a sonichi car dab radio and it told me xfm had 'moved' and was told to retune.
I have done both a local and full scan several times but now even though still having a duplicate xfm station neither can pick up any sound. The signal seems fine for xfm and there is no problem with any other channels like capital, heart etc. which also needed a retune and non related stations like radio 1 bbc 6 music etc are fine. Both xfm stations do not make any noise at all.
Any helpful suggestions or people having a similar problem?.. wish I had waited to retune.
