If we had to have a replacement from the UKTV stable, I would have preferred Alibi, which has actual programmes on it, instead of this 'reality TV' trash.
Time for the BBC Trust to get Worldwide by the scruff of the neck, and extend the Reithian motto of 'educate, inform and entertain' to UKTV.
I agree 100% with Mike Dimmick. More and more unwatchable trash. And when did ITV3 or 4 last have a new 'old' programme? How many times has the Heartbeat and The Sweeney merry-go-round revolved now? It's the same things ad nauseam and it shows nothing but contempt for viewers.
"Time for the BBC Trust to get Worldwide by the scruff of the neck"
The BBC Trust has little or no influence over non licenced aspects of the BBC's operation.
Furthermore since the commercial BBC Worldwide exists to generate profit to supposedly subsidise to a small degree the PSB services of the BBC, nobody is going to do anything to jeopardize that income, when the BBC income has already been slashed under the policy of political interference in the BBC's affairs by the national coalition government.

Any new channel replacing a 'plus 1 hour' repeat channel is good news.
But as this is on a commercial multiplex and not on a public service multiplex it will make no difference to millions of viewers like me.
Griff, I'm with you on this one. By the way, if the Yesterdaychannel had a +1 version, when you watched it would you be going backwards or forwards in time?
Not sure why my Samsung freeview gives me different channels to my Humax freeview box, nor why free channels on freeview must be paid for on (subscription-ceased) Sky???
Have to concur with Mike Dimmick above:
"If we had to have a replacement from the UKTV stable, I would have preferred Alibi, which has actual programmes on it, instead of this 'reality TV' trash."
Astra 2D carries most of the free stuff and it has limited capacity, this satellite has a very tightly focused beam on the UK, programs on stations like Dave have to comply with broadcast rights and cant be broadcast outside the UK so cant be broadcast on the wider beamed Astra satellites without being encrypted.
Ian: Channels can choose to be 'free-to-view', though, only requiring the one-off purchase of a viewing card ('Freesat from Sky'). Dave is a subscription-only channel on satellite, you must subscribe to the appropriate Sky channel package and keep paying every month to keep the channel.
Sky distribute a (small) proportion of subscription revenue to the channels in the package, and the cost of carriage in the EPG is believed to be lower. Sky may also have offered to 'help' the channel with transponder space or rental costs.
Am I the only person in this world that finds this stuff complicated when you guys talk in Numbers, Digits and a code that makes me feel inadequate? If that's what turns you on,, I'm out of here!
Thank you loads to Mike Dimmick, helpful on several occasions,as for the rest try v94m62.
be nice if i was able to get dave, film 4 etc on freeview. i live in an area which was one of the 1st to be switchover yet we still havent been given all available channel

garet:
Over 90% of transmitters won't transmit the full service.
Some won't even get Channel 5 until 2013.
I know how you fill. That's why I use satellite.
But some of the free channels on Freeview that you can't get are subscription on satellite. :o(
Mark A., gareth: While only 81 of 1100 transmitters provide six multiplexes, those transmitters serve all but 8.5% of the population. The situation is worse in Wales, with 34% of the population not being served by any transmitter that provides the commercial multiplexes.
Channel 5 is carried on the PSB2/D3&4 multiplex and is available from all transmitters. There are a tiny number of new relays where some multiplexes don't start up until after the official switchover date, but these are generally ITV-only relays like Derby, where D3&4 *will* start on the official date.
Ofcom's current switchover timetable says that Tyne Tees and Ulster - the only remaining regions for which dates have not yet been published - must be completed by the end of 2012.
Jay: There is capacity on the Arqiva multiplexes, as they changed from 16QAM (18Mbps) to 64QAM (24Mbps) they have extra bandwidth for two extra channels each.
Mike Dimmick: I have to agree that Alibi would have probably been a better choice of channel for Freeview.
I would think that they have thought "Dave" is a very male-orientated channel, and so "Really" is probably a good way of reaching a female-audience on Freeview.
I note that "Really" is showing a "no share" on BARB, whereas "Alibi" gets 0.3%.
I love the food network that's on freeview just wish it was on all day.
Il miss dave ja vu not sure about really tbh and I am female like others above by looks of some of the programmes not 4 me.
I'm quite sad and would love g.o.l.d
dave ja vu was so handy when you realise you've missed something ! if we MUST be given yet another channel featuring cooking programs and doing up peoples houses couldn't it be added instead of replacing one of the few decent channels ???
I will miss deja vu, really seems to have very limited programming appeal
I have a query regarding my tv, I have a freeviewbox and since everything went digital I can not get itv, itv2, channel 4, five and more4 and the quality of my tv reception has decreased. I think it is to do with my ariel looking suffient bandwith, could there be something else causing this issue?
sam - plug your postcode in at top right, then click the links and go look in the page for your local transmitter. That will show power used for different channels now and future
##Access to ITV Player on Demand TV for Panasonic Owners##
Having seen that Humax Freeviewbox owners can now access ITV player I emailed Panasonic to enquire when owners of Panasonic TX-P42G20Band similar Freeview/Freesat Viera TV sets can expect to access it. Part of my rationale for spending on a Pany was the future proofing and promise of “things to come” regarding TV on demand.
This was the reply.
ISSUE RESOLUTION:
Thank you for your e-mail enquiry expressing an interest in obtaining an update to the above product to facilitate watching ITV player.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to provide software upgrades to further enhance the platform used in this range of TVs in the future. Therefore any future additional services cannot be guaranteed.
I am sorry that Panasonic cannot be of more assistance on this occasion however do trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. Of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0844 844 3852 or email us using the following email address:

Seems like they have no plans to extend ITBV player access to Pany owners ???
I am disappointed that Panasonic whilst a great build but ‘aint cheap TV fail to understand that continuing product loyalty is not built on broken promises,
David W J: If you have it writing that you would have ITV Player on your device, then you would be able to use this email to demand that your supplier replaces your equipment with one that can provide it.
However, if it was just a "vague marketing promise" you will probably not be able to do anything about it.
