Useful update, Brian. Thanks. Query : is there a fixed correlation between frequency and FreeSat channel numbers? My FreeSat receivers only display frequencies.

michae: No, they are allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Thanks for the confirmation, Brian. That
is what I assumed. I will cross-link the update here with lyngsat or kingofsat if I need to locate a particular channel.

michael: If you use the search box on UK Free TV, it will also search Lyngsat to help with that.

The purpose of the list is reduce the complexity, if I started adding in all the transponder and multiplex information it would reduce clarity.

And I see little point in duplicating the excellent efforts of Lyngsat.

I have three TV's in the house two of which are new, less than six months old both with built in freeveiw, the other one is an old one with a freeview box attached. What will I have to do when the changeover comes to my area in August to keep using the old set. Thankyou, K I Moore

What can be causing some of our normal tv channels to completely disappear? Since Saturday we have been unable to get Yesterday, ITV4, E4, More 4, Viva and Film 4 and one or two other which we don;t use. Can you tell me please what could be the problem? Many thanks.

Interesting update - particularly the Channel 4 HD channel that you indicate is coming soon.

Are there any more Freeview HD channels coming to Freesat that can be viewed in HD with a Humax Fox Sat that you are aware of?

I was rather hoping that Film 4 might be one of them!
Briantist
Monday 21 February 2011 6:58PM
Brian Springthorpe: Yes, Channel 4 HD starts soon - see www.ukfree.tv link icon Channel 4 HD free-to-air testing on Eurobird 1 | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice and www.ukfree.tv link icon Channel 4 HD to start on Freesat | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Probably 1st April, as this is the anniversary of when the channel went on Sky's subscription service.

Brian Springthorpe: Film4 HD is currently exclusive to Virgin Media customers, and Channel 4 have a whole transponder in DVB-S2 mode.

So, will this be lots of ad regions in HD, or will it be Film 4 HD, Channel 4 HD+1 and Film 4HD +1 ?

Briantist, please help! I have been losing reception on several sky channels, especially those with a 4 in their name ie. channel 4 more 4 ect. So I called in the local sky installers who came in my living room, checked the signal strength with their gizmo and said the signal strength was fine so there should be no problem. I still have the same problem and out of pocket £100 for nothing.

royboy: If you do "Method (3)" on the www.ukfree.tv link icon What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice your box should now pick up the free-to-air Channel 5.

If you want to pay £20 for a card, call 08442 411 602.

However, you can get a Freesat branded box for £30, which requires no card, see www.ukfree.tv link icon Upgrading from Sky to Freesat

.

If you have an HDTV, Freesat HD boxes again require no subscription and can be just swapped for a standard Sky box - you use an HDMI cable instead of a SCART.

Just been visited by a friend who has Freesat.
He has postcode PE16 8QJ (March Cambs) but receives London BBC on 101 for the local news but Anglia on 103.
BBC East would be expected on 101, or should it, so could anyone advise please.
Thanks
John

John Fisher: "PE16 8QJ" is not a valid postcode. I would suspect you need to use a correct postcode.

Despite any improvements to anything, OFCOM have decided in their infinite wisdom to increase the amount of time we have to sit watching those infernal meerkats and that damn Welsh bloke taking off an Italian tenor.

Sorry for including this here, but I didn't know where else to put it.

Check this link from today's Daily Mail (23/02/11):

Brian Springthorpe: You watch the commercial channels live?

Briantist - Not usually but the wife likes the soaps and I'm b*ggered if I'm going to record them so that you can pan through the adverts - I'd end up doing it anyway because she's that technically inept - you know what they are like with TV remotes, they end up getting thrown at the wall!

It will increase the length of a good film and in doing so decreases the amount of space on the disc for useful stuff.

Oh the other thing is, they whack up the volume for the commercials so we'll have twice as much of that too!
Briantist

Brian Springthorpe: I have Windows Media Centre with the remote and it has two buttons that skip forward 30s and back 6s. Nothing could be easier to remove adverts.

I never watch anything live to be honest.
