Does this mean that the programmes are going to change into something worth watching? Does anybody care?Zeb Muldoon: I'll post up when I have details. AlvinFTuesday 25 January 2011 10:30PM
Birmingham Weird, Freeview must use differnt channel names to Sky, because according to the ads on Sky, Sky3 channel 108 will become Sky Atlantic HD in the next few days.AlvinF: That's not correct. Sky Atlantic is a new channel, Sky3 is being moved to another channel number. Jacee JacksonThursday 3 February 2011 1:17PM
Really annoyed that Channel 1 has been taken off and supposedly those favourite programs like X Files/Star Trek put onto Sky Atlantic.
I am unable to get a Sky Subscription as I live in a listed building and permission won't be given to erect a dish antenna[or communal antenna. So that leaves me !!!!! irritated to say the least.
I telephoned Sky about this issue and spoke to 2 different people in Customer ` SERVICES! and they were, to say the least ,less than helpful and didn't appear to care less.I can only draw from this that Sky are not good employers and this rebounds onto the staff's dealing with the customers.
I'm fed up with control being taken out of the hands of the customers; who are essential to a companies success.

Bit of a rubbish name, really they should call it Pick Sky Tv(because we got or sights set on destroying Freeview and you got no choice but to join). Yeah i know that title might need abbreviating for the EPG but i still like it.Alan: Possibly just a little better than "Sky3". Mark A.Friday 4 February 2011 10:00AM
Haywards Heath Alan:
Pick Sky TV would be a good name as they want you to pick Sky TV.
They could call it 'This is the only Sky Free Channel' but that's too long for the EPG.
I think they have dropped the word Sky from the name to make people think that not all the channels on Sky are owned by Sky.
It's like going in to Currys, Dixons, PC World or Comet. Same shop owned by they same company, but different names.Jeff EastmondSaturday 5 February 2011 12:08AM
Clevedon Comet (part of the Kesa Electricals) is not the same company as Currys, Dixons and PC World (DSG Retail Ltd).
Do some research before speaking out...AlanSaturday 5 February 2011 12:28AM
Just bought a new Tv the other week from Currys, and they really have the pushiest most annoying staff always trying to scare you into buying an extended warranty, and this time i counted up 8 times i had to say no to them. I prefer going to Argos to buy Tv's, because they just say do you want an extended warranty with that? No... That's fine goto collection point B. Takes all of 2 minutes instead of the 20 minutes of harassment in Currys.Alan: I bought something from Curry's yesterday and found a simple "no" was sufficient when asked about an "extended warranty". Mark A.Saturday 5 February 2011 2:35PM
Haywards Heath Jeff Eastmond. Done some research now.
Currys, Dixons, Dixons Digital, PC World, Electro World, Pixmania, Equanet and Advent Computers.
So it wasn't four chains but it's still more than one.
If someone gets a Advent Computer because they don't like Packard Bell (PC World) they are still buying from the same group.AlanSaturday 5 February 2011 6:15PM
Briantist: i dunno if you just live in a more polite area or you just a regular there and they know not to keep asking, but everyone i know in the Durham/N.E. Area say Currys can be way too pushy at trying to sell extended warranties, and the more you spend the harder they try.Alan: They are on commission. Perhaps I have a "no means no" look on my face.
I would say, "if you ask again I shall leave the store" if they did that to me (and I would, and I do). GarrySunday 20 February 2011 1:15PM
I have a sky box i do not use anymore
a) Can i use it to get freeview channels
b) Do i need a sky card in it to get freeview channels
GarrySunday 20 February 2011 2:03PM
Thanks Brian
I am wanting to use this box in Spain also ( had a freeview box but its kaput!! and they are 80-100 euros hence hope to use this old sky box GarrySunday 20 February 2011 2:07PM
Sorry do you mean buy a Freesat box in UK say £30 and this will work in spain ?Garry: Yes, that is correct. As long as you have a large enough dish pointing at the correct satellites. Hi Garry,
Yes if your dish is big enough (this varies with location in spain) you should be able to get accurate dish size info for you location from the local expats

Sky 3 has always seemed to be redolent of Jim Bowen in his heyday, saying "Come and have a look at what you could have won", so whether it's called Sky 3 or Pick<TV> or even Pick<Nose> it'll always be the crumbs dropped from the supposedly bountiful offerings of Murdoch's (very expensive) top table.Edward: I'm not sure why Sky have removed their name from the channel, I guess it was probably dragging their reputation for quality television into the mud.
Oh yeah, sorry. JohnSunday 6 March 2011 2:48PM
Briantist, thanks for the information regarding the moving of SKY3 to 153/3, I was afraid that we had lost it, we get few enough channels as it is here in Greece.
John: You are a little outside the Astra 2D beam.

I am watching a programme called "Dog Squad" and so far I have not seen one dog!!! Why is it called DOG Squad???Mark A.Wednesday 22 June 2011 11:29AM
Haywards Heath G. Harris:
DOG = D.O.G. = Digital On-screen Graphics.
It's the annoying channel logo they display over a program in the top left (or right) of the screen.
Some DOG's aren't too bad as they are semi transparent, but some like the CBBC one in colour and moving about are harder to miss.
I think the worst one is on MTV with a logo in the left and right corners and a bar to show you the percentage to the program.David AndersonWednesday 22 June 2011 4:28PM
G. Harris: It's called "Dog Squad" because it's about the sniffer dogs who work for UK Customs. I love this show but it's fair to say that most scenes feature the human personnel at work. Stick with it though because there really are some beautiful dogs to be seen.
