Hi Brian,

I have Sky + SD box + standard sky sub.
Have bought a 2nd hand Sky+ HD box. Can i plug in the box and insert my card and it will all work fine or will i / can i 'pair' the card to the box?

What FTA HD channels would i receive? BBC, ITV (other channels), 4HD, E4HD etc ??

Thanks.

roy: Without a subscription the Sky+HD box will behave the same as a normal SD box box, with the addition of access to the BBC HD channel.

i have a sky plus box and pay the for the full sky package. I cannot afford to pay extra for HD from them so can i buy a freesat HD box and switch from one to another. If so how would i make the connections please

bob: Switching is not really an option, but you can use one of the spare outputs on the quad-LNB that was fitted for Freesat, it just requires a cable to be run in.

bob you can do as you wanted as long as you have an aerial then just switch between inputs ie hdmi for sky and aerial rf freeview. if you can adjust the rf chanel that sky plus or freeview outputs on or they are just on different chanels to start with you could use rf for both but it wont give hd just a bit better.that way its just a case of tune chanel one to sky and two to freeview.

I say aerial by the way as the freesat will prolly cost as much or more than buying an aerial and a freeview box. any future replacement is cheaper and you have a failsafe if either sky or terestrial has a problem.
