Help please.. I am attempting to set up my magic eye from sky hd box downstairs to the bedroom. When a plug into the rf2 output in hd box and plug into tv ariel output in bedroom my magic eye light does not come on. I do also have my old sky plus box plugged in upstairs but only receives freeview via this box. I know I am doing something wrong in my connections but a little lost as to what. I was wondering if u can offer me some advice. The magic eye works from the sky plus box in bedroom to another tv located in another bedroom but no joy when doing the same from the hd box. Thanks Beth.
Beth mcgookin: Have you turned the magic eyes RF2 power on? this done by pressing "services" then in a smooth continuous sequence "4-0-1-select" (on some HD boxes its "0-0-1-select")and that should take you into the engineers set up menu where you will see the option to switch the power on. By the way whilst carrying out the button pressing procedure its best to do it by NOT looking at the screen.
If though the power is already turned on try the magic eye on the HD boxes output but without it being plugged into the TV, as some TV's are not compatible with these devices.
Thank u for the codes, Channel 5 offers great kids cartoons in the morning and that code especially has made mine and my kids morning alot happier :) Just 1 question: I stored all my new channels, but i have to access them through the added channels in services, is their a way of adding to favourites so process not as long? Again, very grateful.
I live in a flat that has a tv/fm/telephone/sky socket in the lounge and a tv socket in one bedroom. The bedroom tv socket does not work. When I took the faceplates off the wall the arial wire that I assume feeds the bedroom is not connected to the socket in the lounge, it is just sitting behind the faceplate. The lounge socket only has one connection. How can I connect this coax. The connection for the lounge tv works fine.
peter brown: ITV 3 is carried on multiplex A and ITV 4 on multiplex D, which you may not be able to get at the moment.
You might be able to get the channels after switchover, but you might also wish to consider Freesat as you are not predicted to be able reliably receive the full Freeview service after switchover.

I seem to get interference at regular times ie: Around 7.30am till 9.ooam approx and in the evening from approx. 7.00pm till 9.30pm approx
During most of the time there is a perfect picture. Channels that are always affected are 12,15,18,21,22,24. The transmitter is directly in front of our house across the sea in Anglesy.Approx 4 Miles. Our house is in elevated position and the mast is in full view. Could there be an outside cause for this. I dont want Ofcom to investigate because they would charge for this service if its found to be caused by any electrical appliance in the house etc.I suspect that the cause could be from a cb operator but I see no large ariels.
Briantist: I see that the Eutelsat satellites have had a name change today that represents their orbital position, so Eurobird 1 at 28.5°East is now Eutelsat 28A.
Roger: I don't need a booklet, but many little Old ladies round these parts seem to still be very vague on what to do. My Mother in Law seems to think its happened already & she doesn't need to do anything, 'cos she had a STB installed last year when Sudbury changed even though she gets her signal from Crystal Palace. DigitAl has confused her by assuming she got signal from Sudbury. Won't take any notice of me of course. "What do I know? I don't work for the Television Company?" I predict tears on 4/4/12.
Mike: Thanks for your response. I have already downloaded the booklet and printed a few copies to hand out to neighbours. Rest assured, nothing arrived last year. No Roadshow events around here until 4/4/12 with the nearest over 10 miles away, and inaccessible by public transport.

Hello,
Up to a couple of days ago I had full Freview service via a BT Visionbox or Samsung TV with inbuilt freeview. I have now lost service across the ITV/C4 stable of stations.
My postcode is HP9 2HR.
Signal strength is showing at 100%, but while the working BBC stations have a signal quality of around 70%, the affected ITV/C4 stations fluctuate from 16-30%. When attempting to view they either completely fail to load, or sometimes just display a pixelated screen.
I have rescanned, but this just seems to have resulted in losing channels.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Martin
Hi, I really need your help.
I have sky+HD box and getting only free view channels. I am not subscribised to sky and I am viewing only free channel on sky dish. There are some adult channel which I want to block but that need a PIN. I dont have any PIN and need one to block them.
How I can het a PIN for free view box?
The BBC have finally (after 2 and a half years) acknowledged that they have a technical problem with the last two catagories of their Savings pages on Red Button Page 2510. They still haven't fixed it however, so page 1/3 still displays a single % which is meaningless !! Affected catogories include INTERNET ACCOUNTS WITHOUT BONUS
I think it's time they employed some brighter IT staff if it takes them over two years to admit to a problem and still not fix it. Pathetic !!
What is the very basic I need to get BBC 1,2,3,4 ITV 1,2,3,4 in Naples, Italy. Even BBC 1,2 and ITV 3 and channel 4 would do. Italian telly is abysmal! I have completely no idea about this stuff ie. sat dish (if required), digibox, freeview, card etc. There is already a small sat dish on the roof which gets Sky (not for me) which I might be able to share. Do I need a dish at all?
Hi. If you can bare with me this may sound complicated.I have a sky hd box, a samsung surround sound system, a tv with only 1 hdmi socket and an hdmi 'rocketfish' with 4 hdmi sockets. Ok i will try to keep this understandable! With my TV only having 1 hdmi socket i was instructed to set the following system up so that my surround sound would still work when watching sky: TV to Rocketfish, Sky to rocketfish, surround sound to rocketfish. With all hdmi cables going through the rocketfish i assumed that my surround sound would now work again but i cant seem to get my surround sound system to receive the sound from my tv. Any help with either the layout of the connections or with how i get my tv to send the sound to my surround sound system via the rocketfish hdmi port would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks-AJ

Until Friday 2nd March at around 8am I was able to get ITV1,2,3 etc with good reception via my freeviewbox. From about 8am onwards the reception disappeared. I have tried retuning on more than 1 occassion and now only get 33 tv channels & 20 radio channels. Why have they disappeared? My postcode is DA13 0RR.
andrew harris: If you have the manual for your TV have a look at the specifications section / input sockets, and make sure that ARC is seen mentioned somewhere associated with the HDMI socket, as thats a necessary requirement to be able to extract audio from the TV's HDMI socket. (ARC by the way meaning "audio return channel")
Maybe you could mention the model of TV involved plus the model of the surround sound unit, as I suspect that if ARC is available its being blocked by something.

Can you just use a red/white audio cable to connect your tv to the surroun sound system?
Are there any other sockets (scart, audio, digital audio)available on the tv and surround sound?
channel 38(quest)is unavaible although showes up in program guide dialouge box said bad signal or scrambled but up to a few weeks ago all ok nothing has changed any thougths. have retuned box several times
Just installed a tv in the bedroom used to be in the kitchen via a set back booster from the front room. installed a masthead amp and supply to do away with the booster. i get great pic the tv in front room has all the freeview channels but the one in the bed room only has 10. please help if you can.

I have just moved into a house that has a sky dish installed downstairs with a twin satallite cable. Can I buy a new TV{the Toshiba 3d one in Currys has a satallite input on the back but only one which I have not seen on many of the new tvs at the moment}and connect the cable directly to the TV with no Skybox?Would this give me the free to view channels from sky directly or free to view from freesat without the need to subscribe?
Hello
I just took delivery of a panasonic viera TX-P42X20B from the uk which am using now in Ghana. An unable to hearthe sounds for any local channel and it always have the ssshhhhh sound. The nicam feature reads no service.can you offer any advise?
martin shalman: As far as I can see the analogue TV standards in Ghana are PAL B/G whereas in the UK its PAL I with the two systems not being compatible with each other hence the peculiar audio you are hearing, with this being caused by the sound being permanently off tune to that required with PAL B which has a different audio to video carrier spacing.
Another aspect that I noticed concerning Ghana's proposed new digital TV service is, that when this eventually rolls out the receivers used to view the service will require to be fitted with DVB-T2 tuners, this being the spec used in the UK for the Freeview HD service, although in Ghana this not necessarily being used for HD purposes in common with Northern Ireland's new digital service, the problem for you about all this being that as your model is only an HD ready device it will only have a DVB-T tuner fitted, and as such wont pick anything up.
Taking all this into account, I cant really see your TV being used as anything other than a monitor, with it being coupled into a locally purchased receiver.
i can get a signal on my bush sat box both signal and quality are 100% but am getting no signal to my samsung hd recorder they both operate from the same quad lnb have run out of ideas as to what is wrong
peter52: Have you tried swapping the feeds from the dish over on the two devices being used? this being the only way to verify if the feed being used for the Samsung is OK or not.
Just out of interest, what model of Samsung sat box are you referring to?
I have TVs in several rooms which will be replaced with digital as the need arises. In the meantime they have been converted successfully with digital set top boxes, all except one. This is a small 10inch Roadstar unit which was bought for the kitchen. It has a SCART socket but unlike the rest of my TVs it doesn't automatically respond to the digibox when connected. Is there anything I can do with it to get it working?
Linda get a life and stop complaining about things that have no importance if you dont like some of the things you have said try north korea everybody is equal there.
Ian.Hoddesdon,EN11 9NS.Sorry for not responding soon enough.I take it you are on Crystal Palace using a group A horizontally polarised aerial (tipped red).If as you stated Quest (on channel 38,frequency 32,Mux A multiplex)was unavailable (as at Tue 6 Mar 2012) but shows up on your programme guide one possibility could be atmospherics/inversion issues around the south east of England between 6-9 March 2012 as some on the Crystal Palace page have been having issues with both analogue and the presently lower pre-digital powered signals during this time.Try a full reset first, then complete a full automatic scan with the aerial unplugged the result no channels will be found.Once this step is completed plug your aerial back in then rescan again either an automatic scan or if this fails again try manual scanning the multiplexes in,Mux 2 on channel 22,Mux 1 on channel 25,Mux B on channel 28,Mux D on channel 29,the pre-DSO lower powered BBCB multiplex on channel 31 (if you have HD),Mux A on channel 32 and Mux C on channel 34.
Rich75.Buckley (Bwcle),CH7 1SX.Sorry for not responding soon enough. Are you using the nearer Moel-Y-Parc transmitter (BBC1 Wales & ITV1 Wales) or the further Winter Hill transmitter (BBC1 North West & ITV1 Granada),or even both ? Judging by your comments you must be using Winter Hill as if you were using Moel-Y-Parc only around 8 miles from your location you would not need to use a new masthead amplifier that replaced your signal booster. If you are using Winter Hill try bringing down your now bedroom set, plug the aerial in this set then scan (automatic or manual) it should work then return TV back upstairs again.Or try rescanning with the masthead amplifier turned off then once completed switch masthead amplifier back on again.Give it a try either way !
Martin Rosen: Yes, as its only really people who view on a continuous basis that have to re-tune on the dates changes take place to avoid losing programmes, although when you return you should first of all carry out a factory default re-set on your equipment to enable you to make a fresh start before re-tuning.
We recieve Freeview from Sandy Heath but all TV's in the house "drop out" occasionally where the picture freezes and then returns a few seconds later often with the sound out of sync. We have a fairly high gain aerial, with a splitter/amp in the loft. The TV's all show a signal strength of 50 - 52%. How can I cure the drop out/freezing.
Hi,
We receive our Freeview from Hastings transmitter. However today we have lost all the ITV channels and are only able to receive BBC.
Does anyone else in the area have this problem today?
Looking at Postcode Checker - Trade View suggests that after switchover Heathfield will "Good" at your location. All others, including Hastings are "variable". Indeed, some of Hastings' multiplexes are predicted as being "poor".
According to this plot, you have clear line of sight to Heathfield (assuming no local obstructions):
