Freeview multiplex allocations

The Freeview transmissions are carried on six 'multiplexes' - each one a single transmission that carries five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and electronic programme guide information. These are shown below.

On the top diagram, the total width represents 24 megabits per second of capacity. Multiplexes 1, B, C and D broadcast in a more resilient mode, but have less bits. The total width of the lower diagram indicates 40Mbps due to the extra capacity from DVB-T2. For clarity radio and text services are not shown.
