Below is a list of all the television and radio channels that you can watch in the UK using one of the free services: analogue, DAB (for radio), Freeview, Freesat from Sky (fSfS) and Freesat. Where a channel can be watched for free, the channel number is listed below. In addition, if you can watch (or listen) immediately online, press the button in the "web" column.

As some channels are exclusive to one service alone, you may need to get receive more than one service to get all the channels you want.

The coverage for Freeview differs too - those channels not provided by the public service "Freeview Light" transmitters have italics numbers. Most fSfS channels can be seen without an fSfS viewing card (or expired subscription card); those that require it are marked with a star.

Hi Sandra,
You can get god tv on freeview channel 235 but you will also need to connect the tv or freeview box to the internet.
The better way would be with freesat channel 694. You will need a 43cm satellit dish and a freesat box to view this channel.
Cost of installation would be about £100 for the dish and box.

I like PickTV but get annoyed when it keeps messing about with the schedule. Why, for instance, does it put 'Star Trek Enterprise' (which I like!) on for a few weeks Monday-to-Friday, then replace it with the (IMO) rubbish 'Warehouse 13'? We're trying to follow a plot-line here and then the programme gets taken off or moved to a completely different slot such as Saturday evening. Also, a similar thing with 'Most Haunted', where we start with the older 2003 stuff then go all the way up to 2008 when the programme really starts to improve, and then...? We're back to yet further repeats of the 2003 season time and time again. Please, can PickTV show more modern series of 'Most Haunted' and stop re-arranging schedules of 'Star Trek Enterprise'? If you are hoping to receive it in the UK, be aware that there are some notches in its radiation pattern. The biggest would appear to be to protect against interference with Winter Hill and the other, part of Wales.

Can anyone help me. we are moving house soon.we are currently with Virgin for our basic tv service. the house we are moving too has sky tv. if the sky tv dish is left by the seller, do we have to subscribe to sky to get the freesat channels and if the sky box is left behind for us after the previous owners has cancelled her subscription will we need a card for the sky box??????

brendan: No. The dish can be used for Sky's subscription service, "Freesat from Sky" or "Freesat". I would expect that, unless they say they will leave it for you then they will take it.

For Freesat from Sky you have to pay a one-off charge for a viewing card:

Note the dagger which denotes:

"For security reasons Viewing Cards may be inactivated from time to time. In this situation, if you wish to continue to receive all the encrypted Free to View channels, you will have to purchase a new viewing card at our then applicable standard charge."

So, for "security reasons" you may have to pay again in the future!

Personally, between the two I would go for Freesat; I wouldn't want to take the risk of having to pay for the aforementioned security.

Can anyone help, we are in the Winter Hill signal area, prior to 10 April no problems with reception. However, although retuned a number of times, both automatically and manually, had a problem with BBC channels i.e. no signal or low signal and bad reception. Following day able to view BBC no problem, day later no BBC channels. We have retuned a number of times and tried reset to 'shipping condition' and still no joy. At our wits end - what more can we do?
We have a Panasonic Digital TV no satellite or freeview boxes etc.

Since April 13 we have had signal problems, for the past few days absolutely nothing except channel 47 stations ( film4, VIVA etc) and today on the advice of a guy from digital UK I did a complete aerial free restart and manual tuning, and have barely a signal from channel 47 . Sony digital tv plus freeview box. What do I do now?

We live just hear Oxford, channels received from Hannington transmitter.

Mrs McIntyre: Nothing will be seen on the web, and simply because that zero reception is "always" caused by a problem at the viewers end as satellite signals are always there.

Try swapping the two LNB inputs over on your box, if the situation remains the same you should carry out a signal check using the following procedure as a no signal warning does not necessarily indicate that nothing at all is being received, albeit it can do if either the box has developed a fault or the dish has been knocked out of alignment.

Press "Services" on your Sky remote control and you will see the main menu with "Options" being highlighted.

2:- Select the "Settings" menu using the right arrow button and press select.

3:- Use the left / right arrows to scroll to "Signal" and press select, the grey bars displayed will show you the strength of the anything that might be received.

If you do see anything indicated then the strength / quality levels being indicated for both tuners have to be around 55% minimum or more to produce a picture, because if its significantly less than this then it points to the dish being slightly out of alignment.

However if nothing is indicated then put the box into standby for about a minute before disconnecting it from the mains supply, this followed by leaving it that way for a further 30 seconds or so before reconnecting the mains supply again and allowing it to go through the usual set up procedure.

Further advice dependant on findings.

1) BBC Alba is evenings only
2) Correct me if I'm wrong but TVX and Babestation extra aren't free & require a PIN to activate but I am far from an expert for those 2 channels
3) itv2 +1 & RT are 24 hours
4) Community Channel ends at 8am
